World Emoji Day


Emoji helps us communicate feelings, words, expressions which are hard to put in words or which could not be expressed easily. Emojis have made communication better and easier. To enhance the communications skills and add fun to the life of the young learners, CMS Aliganj Campus 2, Pre-Primary Section, organised a special session on the occasion of World Emoji Day i.e 17th July, 2021.

The Montessori and Kindergarten teachers showed different emoticons and made the tiny tots understand the meaning of various emojis, such as gratitude, happy, sad, angry. The nursery students did tearing and pasting activity and tapped their feet on the emoji anthem.

Later in the session, students were asked to express their feelings by making emoji cut-outs and puppets. The students made attractive emojis with colours and yellow paper.

It was a fun day full of love, laughter and learning. These activities helped the learners to enhance their communication and creative skills.

INTERNATIONAL MANGO DAY


Mango is the national fruit of India. It is relished by people in the summer season. Aliganj II Pre-Primary wing celebrated International Mango Day on 22nd July, 2021. This day is also celebrated as National Mango Day.

Mango Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students were given prior notice to bring mangoes. The children and teachers were dressed in yellow. Students were taught to identify and recognize yellow objects. Teachers briefed the students about International Mango Day.

Children also learnt that Mango, the king of fruits, is the National Fruit of India. Students shared their love for mangoes by telling the name of their favourite delicacies prepared with mango. Children spent a great time doing activities related to the day during their virtual classes. They also wore beautifully decorated mango headgears and cut-outs. They even recited rhymes on Mango. ‘Show and Tell’ activity was conducted where children brought yellow objects and spoke a few lines to enhance their Spoken English skills.

Various art and craft activities on Mango Day were conducted by the teachers of respective sections like Montessori took earbud printing, Nursery took cotton dabbing and Kindergarten took paper crushing.

The day was a practical learning experience for the tiny tots, where they enhanced their creative, communicative, and collaborative skills. The session was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. We look forward to celebrating more such events which can make a child’s day and learning memorable.

INTERNATIONAL MANGO DAY

World Earth Day celebration


“Go Green and make our earth a beautiful place to live”

Each year the 22nd of April is celebrated as Earth Day. It is celebrated to create awareness about protecting our planet and preserving the environment. Saving water, reducing pollution, protecting the wildlife, plants and trees, recycling waste is just a few means for saving our environment. Although only one special day is dedicated to this cause, it is the continuous effort of each individual including children that would make a difference. The theme for this year was 'Restore Our Earth'. CMS Aliganj Campus II, celebrated Earth Day with full zest on 22nd April 2021.

Pre-primary Section: Albeit staying at home, all the students took Green Oath along with their teacher and pledged to become global citizens and work for the cause of sustainable development. At the onset of the Virtual Class, tiny tots were virtually engaged in meaningful activities to show their love and respect for Mother Earth. Teachers and students took special care to ensure that there is minimum wastage of resources while these activities were conducted. The teachers and children together took conscious steps to control paper waste and there was minimal printing activity involved during the entire event. All the communication was done digitally. Children enjoyed doing various activities and had dressed themselves in green attires. They did various Earth Day craft activities like colouring a mud pot and planted an easy-care sapling for indoor decoration of their homes. Teachers talked to the children about the importance of a clean, green and healthy planet.

Primary Section: All classes of primary participated in various activities such as sharing their thoughts, making beautiful drawings, cutouts, reciting a poem, reading a story etc. to observe Earth Day. Students were made aware through various videos that in this way, the theme rejects the notion that mitigation or adaptation are the only ways to address climate change. Students shared their photos and videos of planting saplings and nurturing plants.

Junior Section: The students observed 'Earth Day' to spread awareness among themselves, family, neighbours and friends about the ongoing global climate crisis. They were made to understand the global climate crisis - its causes and effects - through a video. Children also discussed different facts about Earth Day. It has been rightly said that 'The earth has music for those who listen' and the students realised its time to listen to its music and sway to its rhythm promised themselves to undertake all possible efforts to safeguard their planet. Thus, an initiative of making people aware of the “Natures most precious Gift” students organized the radio program on the channel 90.4 FM.

Earth Day celebration is a part of the school’s green initiative. Through a myriad of activities, the students understood their responsibility towards nurturing the environment.

World Book Day celebration


“A Book Is A Dream That We Hold In Our Hands.”

Books open a window to the world and broaden our minds. They are the carriers of civilization. So, World Book Day is celebrated every year on 23rd April and this year’s theme is “To share a Story”. It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) reading.

Students of CMS Aliganj II Campus are constantly exposed to a variety of enriching experiences both in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. The school always commemorates special days that are celebrated on a global platform. Thus, the ‘World Book Day’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor on 23 April 2021 by the students of the primary wing.

The assembly started with the discussion on the importance of reading books and it was an enthralling experience to know the fabulous views of the students. This was followed by the students who quoted and recited many famous writers and poets’ works. Students also narrated the story through various props and animations. They read different stories and shared their videos from famous works like Rudyard Kipling, Ruskin Bond, Roald Dahl etc. Students were also made to think critically about the stories they read. Students shared their videos of enjoying story-telling by their grandparents and parents.

The objectives to observe this day was to make students able to summarise what they read, to identify books from their summary and to be able to present information orally with regard for the audience. These activities aimed to make students understand that the reading of good books is like a conversation with the finest men of the past centuries.

International Women's Day Celebration


“Women are the real architects of society.”

The International Women's Day falls on 8th March every year. This day is celebrated to acknowledge the economic, political, social and cultural achievements of women from all walks of life. The theme for this year was “#Choose To Challenge”. It indicates that a "Challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change". The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activities were witnessed in CMS Aliganj2 Campus as students celebrated women's achievements.

Pre-primary Section: The day was celebrated by felicitating the mothers of the tiny-tots for their continued patience and support in all our endeavours, online as well as offline. Students made beautiful cards to pay gratitude to their mother; they enjoyed colouring and wrote wishes for their mother.

Primary Section: Students highlighted the significance of the day and the theme “#Choose to Challenge” was elucidated. The students dressed up and canvassed the day by speaking about the glorious victory and challenges faced by prominent personalities such as Mother Teresa, Kiran Bedi, Malala Yusufzai, etc. highlighting the struggles and achievements of women. Students also made beautiful drawings, painted and wrote a few lines on their favourite personalities.

Junior Section: Students came up with beautiful messages through PowerPoint presentation highlighting the competency and intellectual capacity of women who are capable of holding high responsibility as efficiently as men can do. It was followed by recitation of self-composed poetry, slogan writing and card-making, highlighting the achievement of women in different fields. Students appreciated their mother’s on the occasion of Women's Day by writing poems and slogans for them. A session was conducted on gender sensitization where children expressed their views and experiences from everyday life where they see the inequality between males and females. The session ended with children suggesting ways on how to bring about a change.

A special program was organised by the male faculty of the campus to celebrate and honour womanhood. Our Respected Principal Ms. Samvida Adhikari along with the female faculty had a gala time which filled the atmosphere with hilarity. They enjoyed different activities like Tug-of-War, Musical Chairs, Singing and Yoga. The day ended with inspiring words by our Loving Principal, Ms. Samvida Adhikari who appreciated the staff for good work. She offered her heartfelt gratitude for the never-ending supports and services by the staff.

The day was celebrated to make students realise the importance and role of women in society and to appreciate the achievements of women in all the fields of life.

World AIDS Day


"The virus is not more powerful than God and our Love"

World AIDS Day on 1 December brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic. The theme for this year was "Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact". The day was observed by the students of the Junior wing of CMS Aliganj II Campus to create awareness.

Students shared a PPT with their peers on the medical and immunity strengthening. They also discussed and participated in a quiz to create awareness against this disease. The students were shown a video on the present day situation and awareness about the disease among the people of India. They also made red bands for their family and friends to mark the importance of the day and spread awareness about the disease.

The main purpose of observing this day online was to strengthen the systems of health and medical awareness among the students and society.

World AIDS Day

International Day for the Abolition of Slavery


“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds”

International Day for the abolition of slavery is observed every year on 2nd December to raise awareness of the atrocities of modern slavery. The day was observed in the Junior section of the CMS Aliganj II Campus.

The focus of this day was on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, the worst forms of child labour, forced marriage, and the forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflict. Children highlighted how slavery could be eliminated through a series of slide shows. The students discussed leaders who combat slavery through legislation. They also discussed and participated in a quiz to create awareness about this malaise which still exists in our society. There was a discussion on mental slavery and the ways to overcome it.

The aim of observing this day was to raise not only awareness among students but also end slavery in the world and having empathy for all.

World Toilet Day


“Help keeping your community clean and healthy”

World Toilet Day (WTD) is an official United Nations international observance day on 19th November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis. City Montessori School Aliganj II observed this day with the theme focusing on the importance of "Sustainable sanitation and climate change".

World Toilet Day raises awareness of the 4.2 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. Children spoke a few lines on the importance of having toilets in every household and also on Prime Minister Modi's Toilet Yojna. They also talked about the importance of sanitation at every stage of life and how it affects the health and growth of a person. The overall purpose of good sanitation is to provide a healthy living environment for everyone, protect natural resources such as surface water, groundwater, and soil, and provide safety, security and dignity for people when they defecate or urinate.

The day was observed to raise awareness among students about the importance of sanitation in lives in reducing diseases and creating healthier communities.

International School Library Month (ISLM)


“All the reading that we do, gives us A view of life we will never see.”

The School library is a primary source for information which provides access to a full range of information resources in both traditional and electronic format and opportunities to acquire interdisciplinary learning activities. The mission of the school library is to ensure that all students and staff become lifelong learners, effective and responsible users of ideas and information, with this thought the International School Library Month is observed all over the world in the month of October to celebrate the importance of school libraries.

This year “Finding Your Way to Good Health and Well Being” was the theme of ISLM. This month was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm at CMS Aliganj 2 Campus. Activities like “My favourite story character, Narrate favourite story, drawing and colouring of story cover page, reading stories online were taken up by the Librarian, Ms. Shagufta Khan to make the students and community aware of the importance of books and love for reading.

Another most important event was our school’s participation in the International Digital Bookmark Exchange Project organized by the International Association of School Librarianship. We exchanged our bookmarks with “Budapest VI. Kerületi Szinyei Merse Pál Gimnázium, Hungary” where students showcased their creativity in making bookmarks and connected with the students of another school across the world focusing on the idea that ISLM connects communities (learning communities of all kinds and our social communities) and cultures around the world as we share our love for school library. They also received the Certificate of Appreciation for the same.

Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope, with this notion we encourage our students for their internal navigation system to manage the information-rich environment that now surrounds them. After all, without the ability to sift, process and evaluate information, students will be unable to function.

World Vegetarian Day


“Being a vegetarian is a perfect way to attain peace and serenity in one's life”

World Vegetarian Day is observed annually around the planet on 1st October to "promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism". City Montessori School, Aliganj 2 Campus observed this day with great zeal and enthusiasm and contributed to the promotion of vegetarianism.

Primary Section: The students spoke a few lines on the importance of this day in order to bring awareness to the ethical and environmental health and also discussed the immense benefits of the vegetarian lifestyle. They also promised to disseminate the huge advantages of being vegan. They made beautiful drawings and posters to create awareness among the people.

Junior Section: Students marked the occasion by drawing posters, researching the historic importance of the day and delivering speeches on it. Students spoke about the link between the current health crisis in the world and meat-eating and how vegetarianism can be a long term solution to environmental conservation and disease elimination. They also wrote poems about the need to empathize with different life forms that man has consumed for self-preservation and welfare.

World Teachers Day


“Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future”

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on October 5 globally to recognise and celebrate the works of educators including teachers, researchers and professors worldwide. The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2020 is “Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future” aims to address the role the teachers have been playing during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this crisis, teachers have shown great leadership and innovation in ensuring that “Learning Never Stops” and “No learner is left behind”. Around the world, they have worked individually and collectively to find solutions and create new learning environments for their students to allow education to continue. Thus saluting all the teachers CMS Aliganj II Campus celebrated this day to address the role of teachers in building resilience and shaping the future of education and the teaching profession.

Students expressed their gratitude towards their teachers by sharing their experiences and feelings, making Thank-you cards & elocuting poem. They realised that the sacrifices made by their teachers don’t go unnoticed and their impact goes beyond the classroom. They appreciated that the teachers are the magicians who facilitate in revealing the hidden talents of their students.

The aim was to provide students with a platform to express their gratitude and feelings for their teachers and their role in lives.

World Post Day


World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9th October (the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union) to spread awareness about the significant role the people engaged in postal services play. Letters are one of the oldest media to convey messages. In the year of pandemic a big 'Thank-you' to all personnel associated with the postal services. Postal workers have braved natural disasters and risked their lives in conflict zones to deliver not only letters but also essential items, medicines, food and protective gear for 'Corona warriors' battling the Covid-19 pandemic in the frontlines. City Montessori School Aliganj II celebrated World Post Day with gaiety and fervour to salute these warriors.

Primary Section: Students celebrated this day by saluting the postal workers all around the world. They wrote letters to their loved ones and posted. They drew beautiful pictures of Post office and the postmen showing their dedication towards the services they render.

Junior Section: A special assembly was conducted which had an informative speech, enactment, songs etc. It was highlighted how sending e-mails took over handwritten letter writing in the past. These days’ people mainly communicate through e-mails and instant messaging.

The aim of celebrating this day was to create awareness of the role of the postal sector and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. It is necessary to highlight the importance of the postal services to the children of this generation.

World Mental Health Day


“A peace of mind is the greatest asset
we can have for a happy and healthy living”

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10thOctober every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The theme for this year is "Mental Health for all". The day was observed at CMS Aliganj 2 Campus focusing on everybody’s mental health.

Pre-Primary Section: The toddlers were taught about having an attitude of gratitude by the School Counselor Ms. Triguna Singh in which children made gratitude tree and made them realize that so many wonderful things are around us to be grateful for. It helped in increasing the level of contentment, happiness, and enjoying the small things of life. They were encouraged to draw and share their emotions through emojis.

Junior Section: The students marked the occasion by doing yoga which brings mental peace, harmony and balances them in their thoughts. They pledged to raise awareness and reduce stigma about mental health challenges and promised to help everyone to feel healthier and happier in the years to come. They also shared their ways which bring them mental peace and harmony like playing with their pets at home, spending quality time, playing indoor games, reading, drawing, gardening, dancing, cooking, decorating the house, singing and praying to the Almighty. They enjoyed the informative session with Dr. Pooja Sharma, the professor of Psychology at Lucknow University who recommended everyone to rediscover themselves and their communities to be responsive during a time of crisis, as well as a time of great reflection and finding creative solutions and interventions to facilitate mental health in the unparalleled time of the pandemic.

The School Counselor Ms. Triguna Singh took an interactive session with the Support Staffteaching them the importance of mental health and did a relaxation technique (PMRT) with them.

The day provided an opportunity for all the students to discuss mental health issues and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

World Food Day


"Grow, nourish, sustain, together: Our actions are our future"

World Food Day is observed on 16th October every year to tackle global hunger and strive, to eradicate hunger across the world. The theme for this year is "Grow, nourish, sustain, together: Our actions are our future". World Food Day 2020 is also marking the 75th anniversary of FAO. City Montessori School Aliganj 2 Campus celebrated this day with great zeal.

Pre-Primary Section: Teachers apprised the tiny-tots about the good eating habits through role-plays, placards and emphasized the importance of nutritious and healthy food habits. Children enjoyed a variety of mouth-watering homemade delicious dishes to spread the message of “Healthy Heart, Healthy Body". Relishing and sharing the food, reciting and singing rhymes ensured that happiness reigns. Little commentators of Kindergarten, through inspirational speeches and thought-provoking quotes highlighted the demerits of consuming junk food, world food problems and solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. Children understood the benefits of consuming healthy fresh food that meet the relevant food quality and safety.

Primary Section: Students spoke a few lines on World Food Day and emphasized on the importance of nutritious and healthy food habits. They made beautiful drawings and wrote quotes highlighting the demerits of consuming junk food, the world food problem and solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.

Junior Section: Students captured beautiful pictures of healthy food and a balanced diet, made posters and spoke on social awareness and the need of the hour. This way of celebration enforces the students for learning about their social responsibilities, good & healthy habits and understanding the importance of food for the body.

This celebration, on one hand, entertains the students by doing different things while on other hand incorporate the feelings for their social responsibilities to create awareness about healthy food and dietary habits.

World Calamity Control Day


“If we respect and care about our nature,
It will bless us with purity and safe life.

World Calamity Control Day is observed on 13th October every year to make our habitat safe from calamities, which can displace and kill millions of people. The focus of this year amid the pandemic is "all about governance". Every year shocks, disasters and hazards such as earthquakes, floods, pandemics and landslides, leading to thousands of avoidable deaths. Information shared at the right time, in an understandable format, by trusted sources, can be the most effective life-saving tool in such events.

Children of CMS Aliganj Campus - II organised a talk show to empower themselves with knowledge for mitigating the impact and responding to shocks and hazards. They also discussed on a preparation plan for the family- pre-identifying evacuation routes in the building and neighbourhood; knowing to turn the electricity-box off in the event of flooding. They also discussed an action plan for the older members of the family who need special attention and cannot be left behind. They equipped themselves to confidently take action and stay safe in the face of disasters.

World Animal Day


Don't act blindly, treat Animals kindly

World Animal Day is observed every year on 4th October to celebrate the relationship between humankind and the animal kingdom. The animal-loving students of CMS Aliganj Campus II celebrated the day with great zeal and fervour. It is also the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of animals.

The students shared beautiful pictures of feeding animals, wrote articles about the welfare of them and made collages. Students also developed various short videos on the importance of animal welfare and shared their experiences with their pets. This way of celebration was a great experience of the students for learning about their social responsibilities along with humanity for every creature on the earth.

The aim of the celebration is to improve animal welfare standards worldwide through the support and involvement of individuals, groups and organisations that care for and love animals.

International day of the Girl Child


“Little girls with dreams become women with vision.”

The International Day of the Girl Child is being celebrated every year on 11thOctober. The main objective of this day is to empower women and help them to get their rights so that they can face the challenges all over the world and meet their needs. Every year the International Day of the Girl Child has a theme. The theme of International Day of the Girl 2020 is "My voice, our equal future," reimagining a better world inspired adolescent girls. CMS Aliganj 2 Campus is the co-ed school which works on the overall development of students irrespective of their gender and educates them to respect all. The campus celebrated this day with the pride as girls are the future of the world.

Primary Section: Students shared their views on the importance, power, and potential of girls around the world. Activities like paintings and talk show on ways to help girls realize their full potential through education were organized to mark the day. The points like approachable schools for girls, their safety in the school, ease the workload of girls at home etc were also discussed by the students in the talk-show.

Junior Section: Junior Section: Students celebrated this day by promoting the annual campaign launched by UNICEF to amplify the girls’ voices and stand up for their rights. The students motivated everyone to seize the opportunity to reimagine a better world inspired by adolescent girls – energized and recognized. The pandemic did not let students disheartened their spirit. They amplified the voices and rights of girls by performing many activities like singing a song on girls’ empowerment and fulfillment of their human rights. One of the students emulated Mr. Narendra Modi and propagated the scheme of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Beti Khilao’. Some of them explored the artist within them and painted their faces with a powerful message on it which set girls on the path towards empowerment and working on the Generation Equality mission. The girls as daughters thus became entrenched in the memories of the family and the family history through the many pictures that they all clicked.

The motive to celebrate this day was to make students aware of the equal contribution of girls in the society for a better world.

International Day of Older Persons


“Ageing is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength”

International Day of Older Persons is observed on 1st October every year to focus on the well-being of the elderly people. This decade is known as the Decade of Healthy Ageing and the theme of this year is “Leave no one behind”. CMS Aliganj II Campus celebrated this day in full fervour with the grandparents of students through different activities:

Pre-primary Section: Children celebrated the day by taking a pledge to treat elders with love and respect. A special assembly was organized where Grandparents were warmly welcomed by the children who expressed their gratitude and appreciated the contributions of the elderly people towards society. A role-play was also conducted to make them feel special. A musical presentation where English songs were played to entertain the grandparents on this auspicious day marked the ending of the virtual honouring celebrations.

Primary Section: A special assembly was conducted to observe this day which began with the pledge for the welfare of the grandparents. Students made drawings and spoke a few lines focusing on the important contribution of elders in the society. One child recited the beautiful poem for her grandparent. The respected Principal, Ms. Samvida Adhikari blessed the young learners and guided them to show their gratitude towards the senior citizens of the nation.

Junior Section: A special assembly was organized to express gratitude, love and respect towards the older generation. The celebration was graced by the presence and valuable talk of Mr. Pankaj Sinha, Deputy Director, Helpage India and the grandparents of our children who not only prayed for our well-being and success but also showered their love and blessings on us. The students were taken on a virtual tour of the 'Heavenly Palace' an old age home in Punjab followed by the pledge, led by Oaj Gupta, the Head Boy and Anjali Tiwari, the Head Girl to respect, love and care for their grandparents and all the older members of the society. Assembly concluded with words of wisdom from our Respected Principal, Ms. Samvida Adhikari who thanked the special guest from HelpAge India and the grandparents. She also told the students how they must treasure the moments spent with their grandparents as they are blessed to have them. The spirit of the elderly inspires the children. They did so by various activities such as yoga, singing bhajans, poetry recitation and offering prayers. The spirit of togetherness was manifest in the bonding that families displayed as their most valuable asset in the time of the unprecedented pandemic.

The whole family of CMS Aliganj II Campus participated in an online pledge to support our elders and received an e-certificate from HelpAge India. It was an enriching experience for the students which would further strengthen their bond with their grandparents and parents.

Global Hand washing Day


Global Hand-washing Day is observed on 15th October of each year to raise awareness of hand-washing with soap as a key factor in disease prevention. The theme for this year was “Our hands, our future”. CMS Aliganj-2 observed this day to create awareness about the importance of hand-washing during this pandemic.

Students spoke a few lines on the significance of the Global Hand-washing Day. They also enjoyed the 20 secs. Hand-washing activity and illustrated it by following the proper steps. They made beautiful drawings and wrote slogans on them to create awareness in the society.

The objective was to make everyone understand that hand-washing with soap and water is one of the best steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Let's join hands against this COVID-19 and save millions of lives.

“Helping hands and loyal beings can shape a world of Peace and Harmony”

International Day of Peace is observed on 21 September every year to celebrate peace in the world by all human races and to commit to peace inspite of differences. This year the theme for the International Day of Peace 2020 is “Shaping Peace Together” means work together for a more unified, tolerant and compassionate global culture. CMS Aliganj 2 observed the day with verve and vigour and celebrated it with bonhomie on the virtual platform.

Pre-primary Section: Tiny-tots enjoyed the virtual session with their teachers which enhanced the understanding and respect for the people around us who with their work makes our lives easier and comfortable. A role-play was done in order to express the feelings of love and gratitude and the willingness to take initiatives to formulate a peaceful society. They participated in various activities like peace card-making through finger impressions etc.

Junior Section: Students celebrated the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. The teachers explained to their students the UN agenda that this year, it has been clearer than ever that we are not each other’s enemies. Rather, our common enemy is a tireless virus that threatens our health, security and very way of life. They were enlightened that COVID-19 has thrown our world into turmoil and forcibly reminded us that what happens in one part of the planet can impact people everywhere. They were also motivated to support the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred by singing a song of peace in their disciplined voice. They also spread the message of peace by making a dove badge as a symbol of peace, harmony, empathy and non-violence. One of the students emulated Malala Yousufzai, the winner of Nobel Peace Prize, 2014. This not only sensitized the children to the sufferings of war and its impact on humankind but also to have equal rights to live in peace, dignity and to have the equal opportunity to be educated as paramount. The budding poets penned down their emotions and wrote a beautiful, thought-stimulating piece on the 2020 theme.

The day was observed to ignite in them the spirit to shape a peaceful world and instill dignity of labour as an essential virtue.

International Day of Democracy


“Education and Justice are democracy’s only life insurance”

International Day of Democracy is celebrated on 15 September every year to promote and protect democratic principles. The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) affirms people’s right to have a voice in how they are governed to ensure that democracies deliver for all, both during and after crises. This year’s theme is “COVID-19: A Spotlight on Democracy.” CMS Aliganj 2 Campus students celebrated this day with great zeal and took great pride by participating in various events organised on the digital platform.

Pre-primary Section: Children were made aware of this day and what it means to be a good citizen. They demonstrated an understanding of good citizenship and shared their views on “HOW TO BECOME A GOOD CITIZEN” through several activities like colouring, drawing, making a tree of good manners, caring of plants, cleaning surroundings etc. They were informed that it requires the development of empathy, an appreciation for diversity and inclusion, responsibility and opportunities to be an effective agent of change in the immediate community.

Primary Section: Students enjoyed an interactive session with their teachers who informed them about the importance of democracy, the role of Parliaments and celebrated the capacity and mandate to deliver on justice, peace, development and human rights. Students actively participated in various activities like writing letters to their local MP on something they would like to change, creative-writing exercise: imagine the perfect democracy and what it looks like etc. They presented their views in the form of speeches and debates and learned about human rights and their importance.

The main aim was to make students understand the true meaning of democracy and make them responsible citizens who will shape the future of the world.

International LITERACY DAY


“Intelligence plus character- is the goal of true education”

International Literacy Day is observed every year on 8 September to remind people the importance of literacy for individuals and to help someone to read and write effectively or acquire the basic math skills, with a perspective to improve the future of everyone in society. International Literacy Day 2020 focuses on “Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond,” especially on the role of educators and changing pedagogies. The theme highlights literacy learning in a lifelong learning perspective, and therefore, mainly focuses on youth. Different sections of CMS Aliganj Campus II celebrated this day with full zeal and fervour:

Pre-primary Section: The tiny-tots were enlightened with the significance of the day. The students shared their views on the importance and need for education. Teachers organized different activities like showing the colourful storybooks and discussing the same, Picture Composition, aloud reading with correct pronunciation and voice modulation.

Primary Section: Students observed this day on the virtual platform by learning the contribution of Savitribai Phule, the social reformer who is considered to be one of India's first modern feminist. A special event “Human Right and Basis of All Knowledge” was organized for the students where they came up with different views on Literacy i.e. “Importance of literacy in encouraging peace”, “How life would be different without literacy?” They made beautiful drawings and posters to make people aware of the importance of education and spoke a few lines on Literacy Day showcasing their oratory skills.

Junior Section: The concept of literacy was elaborated to the students in the morning assembly. Students were encouraged to opine about the significance of the day. They spoke on Malala Yousafzai, who fought for education rights of the girls. They recited poems and quotes to express the fact that those who receive an education are fortunate. They also promised to educate one person who is not so fortunate to receive this gift.

A special session was conducted by the School Counsellor, Ms. Triguna Singh along with the Pre-primary Incharge, Ms. Preeti Oberoi for the Support Staff of the Campus to make them aware of the importance of literacy. They were also made aware of the benefits of education of both boy and girl child without any discrimination in their gender.

The aim of celebrating this day is to promote the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights among all the members of the society as all play their role in shaping the future of the society.

World Daughter’s Day


“A daughter is the happy memory of the past,

and the hope and promise of the future”.

The World Daughters Day is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of September. A day is dedicated to daughters, where we not only celebrate the presence of a girl in the family but also the womb of nature. Children, whether male or female is a blessing, and it is good to take out a day especially to honour them. CMS Aliganj Campus II Junior section celebrated this day on 27th September with excitement to make the daughters of the world feel special on this occasion.

The students shared beautiful memories in the form of photos with their parents. They also expressed the joy of being their parents' favourite through videos. They felt blessed and loved to have a wonderful family and found an opportunity to thank them.

The aim was to make everyone understand that the daughters are angels sent from above to fill our heart with unending love.

World First-aid Day


“Safety First” is “Safety Always”

World First Aid Day is observed on the second Saturday of September, every year. First-Aid is a humanitarian act which should be accessible to everyone when in need. CMS Aliganj II Campus Primary and Junior sections recognized World First-Aid Day on 12 September 2020 by organizing a session of activities with young ambassadors. The main purpose of this activity-oriented session was to raise awareness about how to handle a situation in case of an emergency. The activity began with the making of First-aid box and making students familiar with the items present in it like cotton, bandage, antiseptic lotion, ointment, scissors. They also learned basic medical skills through a series of activities shared by their peers like video on first-aid was shown to the learners during online classes, role-play on how to give first-aid in different situations. They spoke a few lines on the importance of first-aid, wrote slogans, made posters, drawings etc.

The major purpose of recognizing this day was to train the students to help someone in need or even save a life. The ultimate goal was to develop the skills and make the children confident of how to assist an injured person by providing first aid.

World Heart Day


"Use Heart To Beat Cardiovascular Disease"

World Heart Day is observed on 29 September every year to inform people about cardiovascular diseases, which are the biggest cause of death. The theme for this year is "Use Heart To Beat Cardiovascular Disease". The day promotes preventative measures to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. During this Pandemic it’s easy to overlook the ingredients in the foods. Ingredients such as salt, sugar, fat and preservatives – all of which leads to diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, strokes, heart disease, and cancer. CMS Aliganj 2 Campus students celebrated this day with great fervor.

Primary Section: Students spoke a few lines about the importance of a healthy heart. They told their elders that they should have a healthy heart to enjoy a happy and long life and encouraged their loved ones to go for heart checkup this World Heart Day for a smooth life ahead. The students shared different exercises to keep themselves fit and healthy. They promised to eat healthy food and do exercises.

Junior Section: Children took a pledge to be more aware & proactive with their health in order to live happy and long through exercises and yoga. A speech competition was organised on the topic “WITH A HEALTHY HEART THE BEAT GOES ON”. They promised to keep their voice loud against alcohol consumption and smoking and will dedicate their time in creating awareness in their community.

The aim was to make students aware of the importance of healthy heart and ways to keep it healthy.

World Ozone Day


"Earth without Ozone is like a house without a roof."

World Ozone Day is observed every year on 16 September to spread awareness about ways that are effective in protecting the ozone layer. The theme of World Ozone Day 2020 was 'Ozone for Life: 35 years of ozone layer protection'. Students of Primary Section at CMS Aliganj 2 Campus observed the UN International Day for the preservation of the Ozone layer as responsible citizens.

The students expressed their growing concern towards the depleting ozone layer and suggested suitable ways to sustain life on Earth. Students actively participated in different activities like poster making, slogans writing and poems etc. to sensitize and create awareness about the importance of the Ozone layer.

The main aim to celebrate this day was to remind everyone that not only ozone is important for life on Earth, but also acts as a reminder that we need to protect the ozone layer for our future generations as well.

World Rivers Day


“A river is more than an amenity, it is a treasure”

World Rivers Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Sunday of every September to help create a greater awareness of the need to better care for our water resources. The theme for World Rivers Day 2020 was “Day of Action for Rivers” that praises the function of ladies in ensuring and overseeing waterways. CMS Aliganj Campus II Junior section celebrated this day on Sunday 27th September.

Students enjoyed an interactive session on the importance of rivers with their Geography teacher Ms. Neha Tiwari. They were informed that rivers are the main source of fresh water on earth, carry water and nutrients to areas all around the earth. They also play a very important part in the water cycle, acting as drainage channels for surface water. Rivers drain nearly 75% of the earth's land surface. Rivers provide excellent habitat and food for many of the earth's organisms. The students discussed the importance of rivers to mankind, particularly India and were also asked to give reasons as to how they could stop the pollution of rivers. They also promised to help in keeping their rivers clean and pollution-free and motivate others to do the same.

The aim was to make students understand the importance and usefulness of water and what would life be without it.

World Tourism Day


“Travelling tends to magnify all human emotions.”

World Tourism Day is celebrated annually across the world on 27th September. This year World Tourism Day theme is “Tourism and Rural Development” as this is one sector which has enormously borne the brunt of COVID-19. The importance of world tourism day is not only to highlight the travel sector, it has a major role in preserving and promoting the culture and heritage all around the world providing maximum GDP to the country. CMS Aliganj 2 Campus celebrated this day with excitement as travelling is one thing which is missing from our leisure time due to lockdown.

Primary Section: Students were delighted to share their presentations, where they enthusiastically discussed their views on different aspects of tourism and the places to visit with a brief description of that place. Flip learning was the other attraction of the day where cities, mountains and beaches were presented through Google Earth and Nat Geo tools. The day was fun-filled as students had the virtual visit of Lucknow, Mussoorie, Jaipur and Delhi. The students also showcased a beautiful piece of their creativity through drawings to mark the day.

Junior Section: The importance of travelling to different places was explained to students in a special session conducted by their Geography teacher Ms. Neha Tiwari. Students enjoyed an interactive session where they discussed the place they wish to visit and the reason for it. They were also asked to prepare a travel guide.

The main aim was to make students visit and discuss their dream destination and to make students aware of the role of the tourism industry of a country for its economic development.

International Friendship Day

“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.”

Friendship Day is an occasion that calls for celebrating the presence of friends in our life. Since friends play a valuable role in our lives, it was deemed fit to have a day dedicated to friends and friendship. The friendship that blossoms in the tender years of Pre-school plays an important part in the lives of children. It’s a life-long bond. Thus International Friendship Day was celebrated in the Pre-Primary section of CMS Aliganj II virtually on Thursday i.e. 30 July 2020 with full fervor.

The little learners were told about the importance of the day and had activities related to the same. They made beautiful greeting cards and friendship trees through hand and fingertip printing for their friends and were excited to showcase their skills to their friends. They spoke a few lines about their best friend’s likes and dislikes, their good qualities which make them different from others etc. Teachers did role-plays to make kids understand the sharing, no hitting or no biting and being respectful to each other etc.

International Friendship Day was celebrated to show children how to respect each other, be kind to each other and how to play together in harmony. As friends fill life with love, care, affection, inspiration and positivity.



World Wind Day

“The wind of change helps us to find a new direction.”

World Wind Day, also known as Global Wind Day occurs annually on June 15. The event is celebrated to spread awareness about wind energy, the various uses of wind energy, and the ways and possibilities as to how wind energy can help change the world.

CMS Aliganj 2 Campus students and staff of Primary wing observed this day by involving themselves and showcasing various activities like the recitation of poem, Quiz, reflections of imagination which enables to develop them intellectually. Students were informed about the benefits of wind power, and how it is profitable and competitive when compared to its substitutes.

The objective was to educate them about the power that wind energy uses and to make them aware that wind energy is considered one of the cleanest and most renewable energy sources. Wind power helps reduce CO2 emissions, which ultimately helps to have cleaner air around you.

 



World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

“Respect is one of the greatest expressions of love.”

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is observed on June 15 annually. The principal goal of this day is to provide our communities around the globe with an opportunity to get a better knowledge of abuse and neglect of older people. This year the theme is "Lifting Up Voices".  This theme serves as a platform for unifying Elder Justice and Violence Against Women by sharing the lived experiences of older people. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the UN proposed the campaign, "Safeguard older persons during COVID-19 and beyond" for the betterment of the elderly. 

CMS Aliganj 2 Campus students and staff of Primary wing combat against the neglect of elderly people. They had an interactive online session where students were told about the importance of senior citizens like their grandparents in the family. They were made to understand that serving and caring for them at this age and especially at this time of COVID-19 is very important. They were also informed about the different ways by which they are abused like neglect, stealing and snatching thinks from them, disrespecting them, doing frauds with them etc. Students shared their compassionate views on how they make their grandparents happy, how they are helping and serving them. One of them also shared his joyful experience of visiting an old age home on his birthday. They also shared that they are making their grandparents techno-savvy so that no one can do frauds with them while using internet banking and other facilities.

The objective of observing this day was to make everyone understand that the only source of knowledge is experience and being senior citizens they have much more practical experience which will benefit us. Thus we should take extra care and give them the tenderness their twinkling eyes desire.



INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self."

International Yoga day is celebrated annually on 21 June all over the world. This initiative was taken by our Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to make people aware of the benefits of Yoga. Yoga has medical benefits and it helps in curing many diseases. The theme for this year was “Yoga for Health, Yoga at Home”.

CMS Aliganj II Campus understands that health is wealth. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition and to inculcate it in students daily life we celebrated this day in Pre-Primary and Primary sections enthusiastically:

Pre-Primary Section: Our tiny tots performed different yoga ‘Aasanas’ along with their Father’s to maintain balance between body, soul and mind. They also spoke a few lines explaining the importance of yoga.

Primary Section:  Students and teachers performed different yoga ‘Aasanas’.  The students were also briefed about the importance of yoga in life. The parents of the students also joined and performed different yoga asans.

The main motive to celebrate this day was to help students understand the importance of fit and healthy life and how to survive in the changing environment. We all wish for world peace, but world peace will be achieved by establishing eternal peace.





International Picnic Day

International Picnic Day is celebrated on 18 June every year to celebrate the happiness within and enjoy the day without worries. It is a state of mind and can be made anywhere all we need is to be happy. This year the theme is “Envisioning Tomorrow” which means looking to the future and the start of a new chapter. Due to COVID-19 an unwanted and addendum halt in the lifestyle brought sudden changes in everyone’s busy lives. It’s often claimed that life is no picnic – but today it is! International Picnic Day is a chance to eat out in the open air with friends or family.

So during lockdown children of CMS Aliganj II Campus Primary wing enjoyed the picnic in their garden, balcony and terrace and shared their beautiful videos having a gala time wearing colourful clothes. They ate and drank what they liked and had lots of fun. They spoke a few lines on a picnic and enjoyed fishing. They all had a total blast which they were missing due to this lockdown.

Picnic is the best stress buster. The objective was to make students rejoice in a stress-free atmosphere and understand that all the good time we spend together will always be with us in our memories.



World Food Day

World Food Day is celebrated every year on 16th October in honour of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The World Food Day theme for 2019 is “Our Actions Are Our Future. Healthy Diets for A # Zero Hunger World”.

The day was celebrated on 16th October 2019 by the students with this theme in mind. Pre-Primary children came dressed up as different fruits and vegetables and made posters and pyramid of food items as an activity.

Students of Pre-Primary and Primary visited Chetna School to create awareness about healthy food and dietary habits. Children emphasized on the importance of nutritious and healthy food habits by showcasing placards, slogans, and posters.

The message of “Healthy Heart, Healthy Body and don’t waste food” was spread by a march-past flagged off by Respected Principal, Ms. Samvida Adhikari in the community through inspirational slogans, thoughts provoking quotes highlighting the importance of healthy eating habits and demerits of consuming junk food, world food problem, struggle against hunger, poverty and malnutrition.

Junior students went to a nearby slum area and distributed the food items with a message of taking balanced diet and not to waste food.




National Postal Day

National Postal Day is celebrated on October 10 every year to commemorate the role played by the Indian postal department in over 150 years. Indian postal celebration is an extension of World Post Day. Post offices in many countries use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services.

CMS Aliganj II Campus celebrated this day on 10th October, 2018 where students of Primary section made letterboxes. They made Diwali greetings for the Heads of CMS Family and visited the post office to post them. They also learned the process of posting letters. The major objective of celebrating this day was to make the students aware of one of the main means of communication, which persists to maintain its importance in this high tech era of machines.

International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace is celebrated worldwide on 21st September each year to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to eliminatethe conflicts and promote peace. A day to work towards Global Harmony. This year the theme is “Climate action for peace”.

We at our branch observed this day by making students aware of peace through various activities by different sections:

Pre-primary: Tiny tots celebrated this day toinstill and strengthen the ideals of peace and to promote unity and harmony.The day was full of various activities related to peace such as Dove peace birdfrom hand impression, Earth making from clay and palm impression.

Primary: Students sang Peace song andcoloured doves.

Junior: Students watched a short clip on“Universal Peace” by Sadguru. They also wrote their views on climatechange and how can we save it. Everyone pledged to strengthen the ideals of peace and save the environment.



Birthday Celebration of our Honourable Prime Minister

Mr Narendra Damodar Das Modi is the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was born on 17 September 1950. To expressour love and gratitude for our Honourable Prime Minister we celebrated his birthday with full zeal and enthusiasmin the school.

The children of Kinder garten wrote Birthday wishes on the postcards and visited the post office to post their wishes. They also sang birthday song. Teachers also talked about his life and achievements. They also shared his thoughts like: “Each one of us has both: good and evil virtues. Those who decide to focus on the good ones succeed in life.”  They asked students tod evelop good virtues like love, respect, caring, cleanliness, etcto be a good and successful human being.



World Elephant Day

The elephant is loved, revered and respected by people and cultures around the world, yet we balance on the brink of seeing the last of this magnificentcreature.

Pre-primary section celebrated this day where tiny tots camedressed up in the attire of elephants, with cut-out of elephants and their favourite fruits like sugarcane, banana etc. and had a sugarcane party. They had various activities like mask making, storytelling and role play. Children had an interaction with the Respected Principal, Ms Samvida Adhikari and Pre-primary Incharge, Ms. Preeti Oberoi. Teachers talked about the importance of this day and how can we all bring the world together to help them.


National Potato Day Celebration

National Potato Day is celebrated on 19th August 2019. Potatoes have been a popular food for centuries so it’s now time we recognize this versatile and appealing favourite vegetable. Mashed, smashed, chipped, or covered in cheese, potatoes can be eaten with just about every meal. This day highlights the significance of world-famous spuds and its celebration on a very large scale. Potatoes remain the most popular carbohydrate food. National Potato Day is best celebrated by incorporating the versatile veggie into a variety of dishes.

City Montessori School Aliganj II campus Pre-Primary students of Playgroup and Montessori had a "Potato Day” celebration at the school. They came dressed up as potatoes, with face-painting and innovative potato cut-outs.

Children learned more about the most palatable vegetable. They were taught about the differences between the raw potato and boiled potato. Peeling activity was conducted and in the end, a Potato party was done where children had a potato – chaat party. It was a fun learning experience for the little ones. Teachers told them that we get iron, potassium, and vitamin C from it.


No Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day

On August 6, 1945, the United States became the first and only nation to use a nuclear weapon. It dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and three days later on Nagasaki.

We at CMS Aliganj II Campus understand the importance of peace. A special assembly was conducted by the teachers and the children on various virtues like happiness and kindness, which was followed by PEACE SONGS and a short presentation on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day. An extempore on peace was organized where students expressed their views on love and peace and how they could contribute to bringing peace on Earth.


World Smile Day


“A warm smile is the universal language of kindness”

World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year. The ability to smile may not seem important, but it has a strong influence on our quality of life and our relationships with others. It is said that a smile is a universal language, expressed in the form of a gesture that greets and welcomes others. City Montessori School, Aliganj II Campus firmly believes that a healthy smile can improve our confidence, help us make friends and help us to succeed in our career and celebrated this day with full enthusiasm. Students of pre-primary made smiles and gave the message to pass the smile to miles. The importance of smile in one’s life is very vital. It improves mood, lower blood pressure, stress relief, stronger immune function.


World Post Office Day


A post office is a customer service facility forming part of a national postal system. Post offices offer mail-related services such as acceptance of letters and parcels; provision of post office boxes and sale of postage stamps, packaging, and stationery. CMS Aliganj II Campus celebrated this day on 9thOctober, 2018 with great zeal of getting the experience of old days in modern era. Pre-primary section organized a visit for the children to a nearby post office where they dropped the Diwali wishes written on post cards in the letter box. Primary Section students wrote letters to their parents and grandparents and made envelopes for posting letters. Junior Section students wrote letters using postcards, inlands and used stamp tickets and envelopes to post them.


International Day of Girl Child


On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. City Montessori School Aliganj Campus II recognized the International Day of the Girl Child to focus attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. Pre-primary Section student talked and showcased about the “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana” account for girls which was introduced with a mission- Beti Bachao,Beti Padhao to empower girl child, by our present government. Primary Section students spoke about different topics related to women’s like women empowerment and its need, great Indian women, need to save girl child etc. They had a group discussion on education of girl child and promised to respect their mother, sisters and classmates. They were shown a short vedio related to the same and slogan “Beti Bachao,Beti Padhao” was said and explained by a child. Junior section students prepared logos related to protection of girl child.


International Day of Peace

International Day of peace is observed all over the world to devote strength to ideals of peace. This day has been declared on 21st September Peace Day was established by the United Nations in 1981, to encourage the world to work together toward the goal of worldwide peace.Today , City Montessori School, Aliganj Campus II marked this day with a global vision of spreading peace and unity among all the communities. The campus was flooded with activities to commemorate this day. The students were told about the significance of day. Students of Nursery have done the colouring activity. Students of K.G. enchanted the slogan “May peace prevail on Earth”. They requested to smile as it is said- Peace starts with a smile. Slogan and peace messages were written by different teachers. These activities will reinforce the value of this unique annual day as an opportunity to engage young ambassadors in creating a more peaceful world. We joined hands to unite in an effort to create the largest reduction of violence globally, in the name of peace on– Peace Day



International Collaboration

Video conferences held with Generation Global, pioneering global Education programme comprised of unconventional dialogue exchange on IDENTITY FOR GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP with their counterparts from Kenya and Pakistan. There was another dialogue exchange with students from Indonesia wherein students expressed their views about festivals in different cultures and countries.


An exchange of sports activities with Eureka International Residential Higher Secondary School comprised of teaching the P.T. and Drill exercises to students.
