Van Mahotsav

Van Mahotsav or Forest Festival is an annual tree-planting festival celebrated in July in which thousands of trees are planted all over the country. Van Mahotsav week is celebrated from 1 July to 7 July to spread awareness of forest conservation and to save the environment.

This celebration is the beginning of the noble initiative to keep our mother nature green and clean. Thus, CMS Aliganj 2 Campus organized a “CMS Vriksharopan Jan Andolan” plantation drive on 6th July 2021 under the able guidance of our Respected Principal, Ms. Samvida Adhikari. She flagged-off the drive from the Aliganj Campus II to the park where parents (Mother of Anshul, Mother of Shreyash, Mother of Mother of Gauri, Mother of Abhay, etc.) students and ex-student (Shreya, Sharvi, Tejas, Anshul, Aditya, etc.) community members (Society President, Mr. Mitlesh Kumar Bhatt, V.P. Society President, Ms. Mamta Pathak, Secretary and S.O. of Tharga Police Station, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Mr. Nirbhay Seth and G.K. Seth, etc.) and staff of CMS Aliganj 2 Campus along with our Respected Principal and Incharges got connected to nature through Yoga which was followed by the blessings of the Almighty, the school prayer. After establishing the beautiful connect everyone planted a sapling in the area already prepared for the plantation under the supervision of the Environment Coordinator, Mr. Dominic Mendonsa. This drive is a “Community service project” which is a great beginning of communication and collaboration with the nearby community which will help in building a strong bond between the school and the society with the impact of togetherness and citizenship. The drive ended with the heartfelt gratitude of our Dendrophile Principal, Ms. Samvida Adhikari who sensitized people about the sustainable growth of human races and this life-long project which will be nurtured by us like Green Crusaders for the upcoming generations under the guidance of our Respected Founder Manager, Dr. Jagdesh Gandhi.

Pre-primary Section: The day started with the theme “Let's nurture nature so that we can have a better future”. The day began with the peppy energizer highlighting the importance of trees followed by an emotional and effective appeal to prevent global warming, reducing pollution and promoting more plantations. Later, the day witnessed many amazing class activities by various sections such as: dressing up as different trees and promoting the message of “Grow green and plant more trees”, saplings plantation, making Captain Planet, decoration of pots, discussion on Van Mahotsav and thus enhancing their communication skills. They made posters and wrote slogans on nurturing nature and collaborated with their family members, friends and neighbours in the plantation drive by gifting a sapling along with the posters or slogans.

Van Mahotsav

Primary Section: Children of classes 1 and 2 dressed up as vibrant beautiful flowers and spoke a few lines on them. They also spoke about the benefits of planting trees. Children understood the importance of planting and saving trees."Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive. Can we ever forget that? Let us love trees with every breath we take until we perish." Students of Classes 3-5 planted saplings and tied rakhis to trees, making a promise to save plants always. They also made beautiful posters and expressed their thoughts through the pictures.

Van Mahotsav

Junior Section: "Learn character from trees, values from roots and change from leaves" with this thought students planted saplings, tied rakhi to the trees and also enjoyed a group discussion on "Causes and Prevention Methods of Global Warming". Thus, there was an active exchange of ideas promoting critical thinking and communication skills among the students. They also made posters and expressed their thoughts through the pictures. These pictures depicted how trees contribute to our environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.

Van Mahotsav

The purpose of conducting a weeklong celebration of Van Mahotsav and plantation drive was to make our students and society realize that it is the best time to plant saplings so that the next generations can also take benefit from the trees. Focusing on Sustainable Development Goals the future citizens along with the parents were sensitized towards this need of the hour. These activities were also helpful to instil the value of social responsibility in the students.

Inter-section Tearing and Pasting Competition

Every child has an ocean of creativity and activity which includes inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun. This ocean of fine motor skills helps in the overall development of the child. One such activity is “Tearing and pasting” which requires strength and endurance of the small muscles in the hand. These intrinsic muscles are important in so many fine motor skills, including handwriting, colouring and more. Thus, CMS Aliganj II Campus Pre-primary section organized an inter-section tearing and pasting competition for classes Montessori and Nursery students on 16 and 17 July 2021.

Children participated with ardor wherein they brought in their colourful imagination through eye and hand coordination. The students made beautiful fish and apples and also spoke one line about them. It was a great and fun-filled session where children learnt to enhance their grip on the paper with fingers which will increase hand strength and also make way for more complicated actions like opening and closing zippers and tearing a slice of bread into small pieces. It helped them in exploring new ideas, creativity as well as a sense of shapes, sizes and colours.

The aim of this competition was that the child should be able to develop expertise in the field of their choice as they grow up and climb their own mountains, as high as possible. Tearing and pasting helped them to enhance their creativity and to appreciate their creativity Virtual stars were given as a token of appreciation to all the students for their hard work, orderliness and enthusiasm.

World Malala Day

Every year on 12th July, the world celebrates the birthday of Malala Yousafzai. At age 17, Malala was the youngest recipient ever of the Nobel Peace Prize. The day also honours the rights of children and women especially education and safeguard of their fundamental rights.

“Malala Day” was observed at CMS Aliganj Campus II on 12th July 2021 to reveal the Right to Education for all. Students of classes 3-5 participated in a speech competition where they highlighted the importance of Malala Day Celebration, her mission and her struggle to accomplish her mission. We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced. The students of the Junior section learnt about the challenges Malala faced as a young girl advocating the importance of girl education. Students showed the sketches of Malala and pictures related to the importance of education in the children. A quiz session was organised where students answered the various facts/questions related to the life of Malala. Students shared the presentation on the life of Malala and exchanged information on the day among the others. Some students gave speeches, shared quotes and elocuted poems on Malala Yousafzai. They had a memorable session with Ms. Prakriti Chandra, an ex-CMS student who has her name recorded twice in LIMCA BOOK of records for motivating maximum people for eye donation, a social worker. Her efforts had helped more than 400 people to see the beauty of God. She shared her journey and achievements with the students and inspired them to do good deeds for humanity and taught empathy. Empathy shapes the minds and hearts of youth, building up global citizens who are change agents and that could therefore be vehicles to reach the Sustainable Development Goals.

The aim was to sensitize students about the importance of education in wellbeing, gender equality for sustainable growth and to spread awareness about the right to education that still many girls of various parts of the world are deprived of. Women empowerment is needed in society to give women equal rights to participate in making a good and civilized society. It is important that they realise their worth and should have the freedom of choice. It was a highly informative and inspiring event for all of us.

Eid - Ul - Adha Celebration

Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated in the month of Dhu-al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar also known as the “Feast of the Sacrifice”. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of dedication and obedience to Allah. CMS Aliganj Campus II Pre-primary section organised a special session on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

Teachers conducted special assemblies in their respective sections to make the students aware of the significance of this festival and wished each other virtually. The students were told that Eid-ul-Adha promotes brotherhood amongst the different groups of society as one-third of the animals sacrificed ritually are consumed by the family offering the sacrifice and the rest are distributed to the poor and needy. It also proves that faith and belief in the Almighty help to follow the right path and be virtuous. On this day people meet and greet each other, exchange gifts and sweets. This is the time when people from different religions and backgrounds come together and show their unity.

Through this celebration, the students were taught to love and respect all religions. This celebration helped instill the feeling of peace, harmony and coexistence in the society. The session involved the development of character building. It also made the little ones think about sharing, the oneness of mankind and forgiveness.
