Rakshabandhan Celebration
Raksha Bandhan is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. India’s festivals reflect the country’s rich cultural abundance, love and duty between brothers and sisters. These festivals bring with them a wave of excitement, happiness and hope even in the most difficult times breaking the humdrum of daily routine. This auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated by the students of CMS Aliganj Campus 2 on 21st August 2021 with great ardour and gaiety.
Pre-Primary Section: Teachers and children were dressed in beautiful traditional attire and looked very happy. Children were taught the importance of this festival through storytelling and quizzes. Children of Montessori and Nursery used decorative threads, stars, mirrors, pearls and flowers for making beautiful Rakhi's whereas Kindergarten children made Eco-friendly seed-rakhis to imbibe a sense of responsibility towards nature. The children enjoyed making different and vibrant colourful Rakhis for their beloved ones.
Primary Section: Students came dressed up in traditional attire and made colourful Rakhis. They spoke a few lines on Raksha Bandhan and the significance of the celebration. Students of classes 1 and 2 used decorative threads, stars, mirrors, glue, scissors, pearls and flowers for making beautiful Rakhis whereas students of classes 3-5 made beautiful Rakhis for Indian soldiers showing gratitude and for their siblings. Some children tied Rakhi to plants celebrating Vrikshabhandan and pledged to protect and nurture it forever.
Junior Section: Students celebrated the festival by sharing the brother-sister relationship between students and siblings. Students performed various activities through a virtual platform to understand the true essence of this festival and the sacred relation of a brother and a sister. To commemorate the occasion, a Rakhi making activity was organized for the students. Students showcased their talent by sending virtual pictures of beautiful Rakhis made by using different articles like silken thread, ribbon, and waste material etc. Their artisanship was quite fascinating, and children thoroughly enjoyed this activity that tickled their creative side. Some of the students presented poems and articles through PPT on the Raksha Bandhan. Students also tied a sacred thread on trees and plants celebrating Vrikshabandhan and pledged to protect them.
The main objective was to make students familiar with the importance of this festival. The session was full of learning experiences for the children where they enhanced their creative, critical thinking, communication skills through collaborative learning and sensitized learners towards global citizenship.
