We are happy to know that Gomti Nagar Campus I is organizing the 9th International Young Mathematicians' Convention (IYMC) 2022 virtually in which students of schools of various countries of the world will participate online. The aim of the convention is to sharpen the mathematical skills and knowledge of students. Another advantage accruing from the event will be the coming together of students of the world which will build lasting mutual relations among them. The misgivings of students about the children of other countries will cease to create any misunderstanding. The participants will meet as citizens of one world rather than as citizens of their respective countries besides exchanging current mathematical knowledge.

Competitions organized during the event will enhance and clarify the knowledge of mathematics and shall make it interesting and qualitative. The participants will learn about the latest mathematical knowledge and trends in the field of research.

We heartily congratulate the Principal of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I and Convenor of IYMC, Mrs Abha Anant and her entire team for conceptualizing and organizing the convention. We wish IYMC 2022 a great success.

Nature has designed the universe in numbers that purposefully involve geometry, dimensions, patterns and distance. Even time is measured in numbers at which all events take place. It is thus evident that Mathematics is pervasive and inescapable. IYMC gives a platform to students in order to encourage and inculcate the understanding of this fascinating subject.

When mathematics is viewed as just another subject in schools, it underestimates the role it plays in shaping a child's personality. For starters, it builds problem solving ability, a critically important skill that is required in day to day activities. Students need to learn to apply sound reasoning and analysis, the very core learnt from mathematics. Mathematics fosters a deep understanding of making connections in real life too.

In organizing the IYMC, our goal is beyond the development of number skills. It is to hone not just intelligent, but smart scholars. This contest serves as a platform to bring like minds together, enabling students to initiate knowledge transfer and bridge gaps at the same time. I hope to see more and more students take advantage of this opportunity and use it to their benefit at IYMC-2022. I am delighted to learn that City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar Campus I is organizing the 9th IYMC Mathematica 2022 on the virtual platform from 10th to 15th October 2022.

The purpose of the International Young Mathematicians' Convention enables students from all countries to prove their math skills and unleash their creativity. IYMC gives you the unique opportunity to unleash your math skills and apply them to challenging problems. Participants can also receive certificates, awards, and global recognition.

For the past many years, various teams of young mathematicians from the globe participating in IYMC witnessing their skills wherein the students learned new tricks in mathematics. This mathematical fair is equally beneficial for the maths teachers as the different alternatives to make the subject more interesting and simple. Apart from that participation of world-renowned mathematicians like Dr. Simon L Chua, and Prof. Wen Hsien Sun provides guidance to budding mathematicians.

Mathematics is a fundamental part of human thought and logic which leads to understanding of the world and humanity in a better way. It provides an effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning. In addition, mathematical knowledge plays a crucial role in understanding the contents of other subjects such as science, social studies and even music and art.

Certain qualities that are nurtured by Mathematics are power of reasoning, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving ability and even effective communication skills. There are countless examples of mathematical patterns in nature's fabric like spiders' webs, snails' shells, bees' hexagonal combs etc. Thus, anyone can be a mathematician if given proper guidance, training and opportunities in the formative period of one's life. Learning mathematics can be made easier and enjoyable by including mathematical activities and games. Such activities encourage and attract an alert and open minded attitude among youngsters and help them develop clarity in their thinking.

We are glad to know that CMS Gomti Nagar campus I has already been working in this direction by organising 9th IYMC Mathematica from 10th to 15th October 2022 on virtual platform. The purpose of the event is to provide a platform to the young mathematicians to participate in various competitions like Maths Jingle, Mental Calculations, Maths Quiz etc. This mathematics fair will be equally beneficial for students as well as teachers as not only will it help the students learn new tricks in Mathematics but also the Maths teacher will get to know various alternatives to make the subject more interesting and simple.

I take this opportunity to congratulate Ms Abha Anant, Principal, Gomti Nagar Campus I and her dedicated team for their efforts to organize 9th IYMC Mathematica 2022. I am sure their efforts would bear fruits leading to shoulder responsibility in developing our heritage, as it is said, “Mathematics is a part of our human cultural heritage and we have a responsibility to develop it”.
