Unfolding the pages of History, we realize the contribution of ordinary and extraordinary, founders and destroyers, high intelligence and intense desires, welfare and visionaries. History leaves an indelible mark on the minds and character of people; it teaches how to pass the crossroads of despair and hopelessness. The extraordinary amongst us have altered the course of history by resolving the causes of ignorance, scarcity and inequality.

They were the prophets of human welfare, who equipped mankind with the tool called education, to overcome any catastrophe of life. All these ambassadors of human race were diverse in their approach but worked towards a common mission that is to refine human life continuously from a state of barbarism to an enlightened and disciplined civilization.

Francis Bacon- the British statesman and philosopher rightly said, “History makes men wise, poets-witty, Mathematics-subtle, nature philosophy-deep, moral-grave, logic-rhetoric and people enlightened.”

People are intelligent enough to draw boundaries but still not wise enough to overcome conflicts, ignorance and inequalities. Still many dimensions of human harmony remain unattained, missions and goals unaccomplished. To overcome our living limitations, we forward legacies………may be one generation structures programmers and methodologies and the next harvests the results but everyone has to do one's bit. We must strain all our nerves to attain material, human and divine objectives.

As Thomas Carlyle defines,” The whole past is the procession of the present.” Hence, students need to take inspiration from the lives of the great leaders, must become the beacon light and safeguard their future. Our upcoming generations must create history instead of merely writing it. The missions initiated by the visionaries of all times should be fulfilled by them. They must imbibe stern accuracy and bold imagination through which human race soars to greater heights.

It is for this purpose that Reflections—an international youth competition of History & Civics is organized. The Fest aims at empowering today's youth to face the challenges, derive methodologies and emerge as game changers and trend setters. The platform brings them together to improve the present and work for a peaceful, and blissful global society.

Let me take the opportunity to introduce our institution, City Montessori School. The School, popularly known as CMS, was awarded the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education in 2002, the first school in the world to be so honored, in recognition of its efforts "to promote the universal values of education for peace and tolerance, at a time when these values are increasingly being challenged".

The social responsibility of a modern school is to make every child a gift of God to mankind, a pride of the human race and a potential light of the world by imparting all three kinds of education – Material, Human and Divine. It is, therefore, the purpose of CMS education, to release the capacities latent in the child, develop analytical abilities, confidence in oneself, will power and goal-setting competencies and instill the vision that will enable a child to become a self-motivated agent of social change.

With a view to promote the ideals of World Unity and World Peace across the globe, CMS organizes 30 theme-based international events. Reflections International 2023 (International Youth festival for History, Civics, Legal Studies and Psychology) is being organized by CMS Mahanagar Campus from 5th Aug to 8th Aug 2023. It gives me immense pleasure to extend a cordial invitation to all bright and enthusiastic young minds, to participate in the 8th Reflections International. Participation of your Institution in this event will give your students an opportunity to compete with students of various countries of the world and gain more exposure and confidence.

History is inescapable. It studies the past and the legacies of the past in the present. Education is not 'just' concerned with teaching specific tasks but it entails forming and informing the whole person, for and through the experience of living through time. History is essential for 'rooting' people in time especially children who are the future citizens of the world. While Psychology and Legal Studies generate different kinds of skills and knowledge needed for tasks in society. It is for this purpose that Reflections—an International youth competition is organized. Ever since humans have inhabited the Earth, they have left the footprints of their existence on the sands of time and it is through the pages of history that we come to know who we are, where we come from and where we are potentially headed.

Like previous years, this year too, CMS Mahanagar campus is ready to set the time machine and give us a ride to our glorious past. Besides a rendezvous with history, it will be a unique experience for the children to develop perception and to understand the problems of self and surroundings as well as of the society through Legal studies and Psychology. Students need to have awareness, knowledge and understanding of rights and legal issues. Together with the confidence and skills they need to deal with disputes and work for world Unity and justice.

As Spanish philosopher George Santayana once said, "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." The past creates the present. Our modern world exists because of events that happened long before our time. Only by understanding those events can we know how we got here and where to go next. History is full of transitions that have altered world's story. When you build your knowledge of history, you know more about what created our present day. When we instill good values in the minds of young people, we are collectively working towards progressive future of mankind.

At City Montessori school, our endeavor is to create global awareness among young minds and achieve world peace. These young learners are coaxed to develop the ideas of humanity and community service. Hence, organizing various national and International events to develop such values and traits in our learners is our tradition. We hope that through this event there is a strong ethical and moral values created in the youth so that they are well equipped to face the challenges of life and attain immense success in their ventures.

As an educator we have responsibility of making every child wise, talented, law-abiding and just. Keeping this aim in mind we proudly declare that Reflections International is not just about History and civics but it also has Psychology and legal studies in its domain now. With all glittering and a new face -Reflections International 2023, shall turn over the chapters of History, Civics, Psychology and Legal studies one more time with the Youth of today to make them Good, just and informed citizens of tomorrow.
