Music and Dance Training at CMS

Research at California University shows that children who learn music develop a greater capacity for absorbing knowledge, and have better learning outcomes, in studies, co-curricular activities and sports.

To encourage music and dance, CMS has well trained and experienced music and dance teachers at all campuses (55 music teachers and 35 dance teachers). Children are imparted high quality training in classical music, and individual or group lessons in musical instruments such as violin, guitar, synthesizer etc; on a regular basis. In dance, they are taught the various classical dances like kathak and bharatnatyam, folk dance and various genres of western dance.

Children have been trained to participate in the Music Exams conducted by the Trinity College of Music, London since 2006. In 2007 CMS became a centre for conducting Exams on behalf of the Trinity College of Music, London. Our children have come out with flying colours. Sagar Gandhi topped in North India in Grade 2 in Electronic Keyboard, Amaan Khan successfully passed Grade IV in Guitar and Avnisha Verma Grade lin Guitar. In 2012, one of our teachers, Mr Pankaj Srivastava received a "Certificate of Excellence" in music teaching from the Trinity College of Music, London.

This year individual violin and voice lessons in Western Music have been introduced in 6 of our campuses. Our children are being mentored by Mr Shamim Movahhed and Mrs Jinous Vegan from Tblisi, Georgia. They are both exponents in Violin and Western Vocal music respectively. 25 of our violinists are being trained to take the Music Exam in November this year, conducted by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

Training in "Staff Notation" (reading western music scripts) is being given to 27 of our music teachers by Mr Shamim Movahhed, who is a music composer, orchestra director and violinist. Mrs Jinous Vegan, who is a professional in vocal western classical music and an opera singer, is giving training in music and voice lessons to our children.

Apart from individual violin and voice lessons, tabla classes have been started in 2 of our campuses i.e. CMS Gomti Nagar I and Aliganj I.

Under the guidance of Mr Shamim Movahhed and Mrs Jrous Vegan, our young violinists have recently had 4 very successful presentations to their credit in the City of Lucknow before an appreciative audience in the year 2018-2019.
