“My whole outlook on life and its problems is a scientific one and I have never felt attracted towards religion and its methods.”
--Mahatma Gandhi

Amongst the greatest of all the great services that can be possibly rendered by man to the Almighty, is the education of children, building their character and inculcating in their tender hearts the love of God.
The purpose of today’s school education should be to develop and release capacities latent in the child, develop analytical abilities, confidence in oneself, will power and goal-setting competencies, and instill the vision that will enable a person to become a self-motivated agent of social change. Education needs an expanded definition that frees it from today’s largely economic context and acknowledges its role in transforming both individual lives and entire society. A modern school also needs to concern itself with the affairs of the age in which we live.
CMS education focuses around the belief that a 21st century school should act as a lighthouse of society, providing meaningful education, spiritual direction, guidance and leadership to not only its students but also to the parents and society at large.
Dear Participants,
Greetings,
For sixty years, CMS has striven to create global citizens, imbued with the ethos of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam (the whole earth is one family). In this diamond jubilee year we celebrate the fact that CMS has helped to mould the thinking of scores of thousands of students towards peaceful existence.
As a part of our mission, we organize 28 international events each year. Each of these events, though seemingly related to an academic subject, is in fact conceptualized with another tacit agenda – that of promoting global citizenship through cross-cultural interaction.
MACFAIR is a similar effort. Undoubtedly at the event young minds shall interact at an international and national platform through rigorous debates, seminars and competitions, and learn a lot in maths and computers. But the event will also promote inter-cultural exchange and thus equip participating children with the attitudes needed for the 21st century.
I congratulate Dr. Kalpana Tripathi the tireless Principal of the CMS Mahanagar campus, and all her staff, for convening Macfair this year with renewed vigour, and warmly welcome all participants.
I believe that to meet the challenges of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not just for his or her own self, family or nation, but for the benefit of all mankind. Universal responsibility is the real key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace, the equitable use of natural resources, and through concern for future generations, the proper care of the environment.
I am delighted to welcome you all to the 15th Macfair International 2022, which through its series of competitions based on mathematics, computers, science and other fields focuses on critical global issues of the world. Macfair is an effort to improve the quality of education through a practical approach. The purpose of the competitions is to encourage the development of creative thinking and problem solving techniques as well as to promote excellence in a competitive, out-of-class setting. The activities will provide the opportunity for students to interact, compete, organise ideas, think logically, and develop higher-level cognitive thinking. Such competitions also promote the sharing of knowledge between students and educators.
I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Kalpana Tripathi, Principal of CMS Mahanagar, and her dedicated staff for organising this mega event.
With a rich legacy of more than sixty years, City Montessori School continues its onward march to spread the light of education and pave the path of academic excellence for each and every student that enters its hallowed portals.
We believe that true education is both an experience and a process and some of the most profound and lasting students’ learning experiences happen beyond the classroom. 15th Macfair International–2022, an International Youth Festival for Science, Mathematics and Computer Science is an exemplary initiative of City Montessori School, Mahanagar Campus. The event aims to inspire students to explore the richness and beauty of Science through a series of competitions based on Mathematics, Computers and Science. The cross cultural interaction will not only create scientific temper and global vision among the children of the world but will also encourage collaborative creative problem solving. Einstein said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of mind to think.” The competitions will enable the students to develop the fine attributes of head, heart and mind, making them global citizens who are not only future ready but also act as agents of peace, compassion and international brotherhood in the years to come.
I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Kalpana Tripathi, Principal of CMS Mahanagar and her dedicated and diligent staff members for organising this humongous event.
There is no area of the World that should not be investigated by Scientist. There will always remain some questions that have not been posed.

Implication of Science and Technology to mans' use is as old as 2500 B.C or much earlier when the people, of Indus Valley Civilization came to know first time about the fire and the wheel. Majority of the discoveries that occurred in the ancient years were mostly the result of serendipity. But, these chance discoveries sowed the seed of the art of science in the minds of our ancestors. Since then, man's curiosity and meticulous efforts have helped him to make new inventions and discoveries. All these factors and forces generated a greater awareness of science and eventually led to the birth of the modern science.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India expressed his views in 'The Discovery of India’: "It was science alone that could solve the problems of hunger and poverty, of insanitation and illiteracy, of superstition and doddering custom and tradition, of vast resources running to waste, of a rich country inhabited by starving people,".
Recent breakthroughs made in the fields of science have seen the emergence of hitherto unheard-of areas in the field of science like Superconductivity, Supercomputers, Robotics, and nanotechnology.
The relationship between science and technology has always been pretty amicable, linked through their shared goal of helping to improve society. But, in the 21st century, it seems like technology is outgrowing its niche. It has generated a fear of creating mechanised humanoids. In this wake, it becomes our moral responsibility to raise a generation of responsible citizens of tomorrow.
We at 15th Macfair International 2022, welcome all like-minded and concerned world citizens to share this responsibility and to help us achieve the task of stimulating the young minds through an array of activities and competitions waiting for them.
Mathematics is a field that many people shy away from, but there are some who had a passion for numbers and making discoveries regarding equations, measurements, and other numerical solutions in history. They looked for ways to understand the world as it relates to numbers and their contributions have been very important for their generation and beyond.
One of the basic subjects that children study throughout their entire educational career is mathematics. From the time they are learning to count until the time they graduate high school, mathematics is a core subject in the curriculum.
The present age is one of skill-development and innovations. The more mathematical we are in our approach, the more successful we will be. Mathematics offers rationality to our thoughts. It is a tool in our hands to make our life simpler and easier. Let us realize and appreciate the beauty of the subject and embrace it with all our heart. It is a talent which should be compulsorily honed by all in every walk of life.
Thus, let us treat mathematics not just as a subject, but a way of leading a calculated and meaningful life. With this hope, we at Macfair International 2022, welcome all young minds from all over the globe to nurture and share their talents.
Let me take the opportunity to introduce our institution, City Montessori School. The School, popularly Known as CMS, was awarded the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education in 2002, the first school in the world to be so honoured, in recognition of its efforts "to promote the universal values of education for peace and tolerance, at a time when these values are increasingly being challenged".
It gives me immense pleasure to extend a cordial invitation to all bright and enthusiastic young minds, to participate in the 15th Macfair International (International Youth Festival for Science, Mathematics and Computer Science) scheduled to be held from 5th November to 8th November, 2022. We were unable to have offline participation in 2020 and 2021, due to Covid-19. By the grace of God, things are coming back to normal and we look forward to your participation.
Participation of your Institution in this event will give your students an opportunity to compete with students of various countries of the world. It will create an interest in the students to increase their knowledge in Science, Mathematics and Computer Science.
Mathematics is the science of quantity and space. It promotes problem solving reasoning and critical thinking.
Science connects us to the world around us. It helps the students understand the inter-relatedness and connectedness between the things. Our philosophy is that science needs to be understood not first in Isolation, but also in its connection to other things. For example the invention of the automobile has also led to the increased emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, contributing to the greenhouse effect and warming the Earth atmosphere. Thus scientific knowledge is connected to other disciplines. It also develops scientific literacy among students and encourages them to excel in Maths and Science.
Computer Science is the need of the hour today. The prodigious complexity of calculations as well as the whole set of activities needed in every field of knowledge are made easy by sophisticated electronic tool, another machine designed to reduce the work or extend out dominion over the world.
Since its inception in the year 2004, Macfair International has been very popular among the students. It will be a pleasure to have your school’s participation in this event.
We specially invite Respected Principals of participating schools and colleges as our special Guest of Honour. Kindly visit our website www.cmseducation.org/macfair for further updates and contact us on our e-mail at mahanagar@cmseducation.org or ktripathi2@gmail.com. It will be a good opportunity to share our ideas and learn from each other.
Looking forward to your participation in an exciting and rewarding experience at 15th Macfair International-2022.
Yours sincerely,
