We are happy to know that Rajajipuram Campus II is organizing Matheletics – 1st International competition in Mathematics wherein students of schools of various countries of the world will participate. The aim of this international event is to sharpen the mathematical skills and knowledge of students.

Another advantage accruing from the event will be the coming together of students of the world which will build lasting mutual relations among them. The participants will meet as citizens of the one world rather than as citizens of their respective countries besides exchanging their mathematical knowledge.

Competitions organized during the event will enhance and clarify the knowledge of mathematics and shall make it interesting and qualitative. The participants will also engage in interesting mental math activities in order to develop a strong numerical sense.

We heartily congratulate the Principal of CMS Rajajipuram Campus II and Convenor of Matheletics, Mrs Anupama Checker and her entire team for conceptualizing and organizing this unique event. We also wish all the participants of Matheletics a great success.

Nature has designed the universe in numbers that purposefully involves geometry, dimensions, patterns and distance. Even time is measured in numbers at which all events take place. It is thus evident that Mathematics is pervasive and inescapable. Matheletics gives a platform to students in order to encourage and inculcate the understanding of this fascinating subject.

When mathematics is viewed as just another subject in schools, it underestimates the role it plays in shaping a child’s personality. For starters, it builds problem solving ability, a critically important skill that is required in day to day activities. Students need to learn to apply sound reasoning and analysis, the very core learnt from mathematics. Mathematics fosters a deep understanding of making connections in real life too.

In organizing Matheletics, our goal is beyond the development of number skills. It is to hone not just intelligent, but smart scholars. This contest serves as a platform to bring like minds together, enabling students to initiate knowledge transfer and bridge gaps at the same time. I hope to see more and more students take advantage of this opportunity and use it to their benefit at Matheletics 2023. Globalization and increasing diversity in man’s needs generate enhanced demands for competitive skills. Competition, if taken in healthy spirit, always inspires to greater achievement just by providing a challenging and engaging experience, both competitive and educational; to use our skills in new and creative ways. Hence, providing our students the acumen that is needed for the ever-changing world is what we aim for.

Maths competitions in general, require a different style of mathematical thinking, inspiring pupils to delve beyond their textual knowledge, making a connection between theory and application of the principles they have learned. This means that sometimes students can surprise themselves and do better than they might normally expect. Not only it helps to enhance the interest in the students towards the subject but also creates a conducive environment to work in groups outside the classroom.

Experience says learning mathematics can be made easier and enjoyable if our curriculum includes mathematical activities and games. I must congratulate the Principal and the staff of Rajajipuram campus II, City Montessori School for taking the plunge to help our youngsters explore the exciting world of Mathematics.

The wide variety in the nature of the competitions; Number Ninjas, Confabulors, Mathsketeers, Mathematicum Le Modele and Mathdoku to name a few would surely develop the right attitude among them and bring clarity in their thinking.

The fold and fraternity of City Montessori School also feel indebted to the most energetic and the youngest at hearts members of our family; our Founder Manager, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and our Founder Director, Dr Bharti Gandhi for always believing in our dreams and giving us wings to soar high.

We are also privileged to have the opportunity to work under the inspiring leadership of our extremely focused President and Managing Director, Prof Geeta Gandhi Kingdon for building the penchants for excellence in all our endeavours.

As we are gearing ourselves to be a part of this momentous occasion to challenge our own limitations, my heart is filled with a sense of gratitude for getting the opportunity to be able to witness this one of a kind event.
