Building a Culture of Unity
|

|
The concept of “educating for unity” is a novelty in modern educational lexicon but at City Montessori School it has been an article of faith since the very founding of the school in 1959. CMS is the world’s only school to have a full-fledged World Unity & Peace Education Department. CMS believes in the power of education to influence and shape society that values social justice, respect for others and a belief in the dignity and rights of every human life – in short, a culture of world unity and peace.

Why World Unity Education is Necessary ? |

We are living in an age where we know more about what peace is not, than what peace is. Violence is emerging in an unprecedented manner in the world today. It is basically a fallout of increasing disunity in general. There can be no peace without unity. World Peace is the Fruit that can grow only on the Tree of World Unity. Hence, the urgent need to impress upon young minds the value of world unity and to nurture peace in the hearts of children. |

| What is World Unity Education ? |

World Unity education is concerned mainly with promoting world unity and peace building with special emphasis on the learning process at all levels. World Unity education deals with “positive unity” – a concern with areas and problems of environment, resources, universal human rights, economic deprivation and social justice that can best be tackled by a unified approach. World Unity education is basically being concerned about the affairs of the age. |
