RULES & REGULATIONS

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

WIZMIC 2009 will be hosted by City Montessori School, RDSO Branch, Lucknow, India from 27th to 30th October 2009. The last date for acceptance of entries is 31st August 2009.

The aims of this event are –

a. to promote friendship among school going students
b. to provide an opportunity for students at elementary level, to manifest their mathematical talents.
c. to unfold a platform for mathematical interaction at elementary level.
d. to wake up the schools at global level to brush up the elementary mathematics curriculum
 
PARTICIPATION
1. Participation in WIZMIC 2009 is by invitation. Each invited country is entitled to send a team consisting of a leader, a deputy leader and not more than four contestants.
2. Each invited country is entitled to send not more than four teams.
3. Contestants should have enrolment at elementary school in academic year 2009 and must have been born on or after 27th October 1995.
4. Participating teams are responsible for their own travelling expenses to and from Lucknow.
5. The organizing committee of WIZMIC 2009 will be happy to provide hospitality, free of cost to all outstation participants. This includes meals, accommodation and transport from and to the railway station / airport at Lucknow.
6. Each participating country should send an official acceptance, the names of the team leader, deputy leader and team members. Intimation regarding the flight arrangement should also reach the committee by 25th October 2009.
7. Leader and deputy leader are responsible for the conduct of the team members.
   
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
  ENGLISH will be the official language of the WIZMIC 2009
 
PROPOSAL FOR PROBLEMS
1. Each participating country (team) has to send two sets of proposed problems with solution.
a.

Five proposed problems for individual contest

and
b.
Five proposed problems for team contest
2. The problems should cover the elementary school curriculum.
3. The problems and the solutions, type written in English, should reach the WIZMIC 2009 organizing committee by 31st August 2009.
4. Team leaders must reach Lucknow on 27th October 2009. They will jointly discuss, select and finalise the proposed problems.
   
RULES AND REGULATIONS
29th October 2009 – Morning schedule
1.
  1. Ninety minutes, for the individual contest, which consists of fifteen problems?

  2. Afternoon schedule

  3. Sixty minutes will be allotted for the team contest, which consists of ten problems.
2. Only writing and drawing instruments are permitted inside the contest venue. Books, papers, tables, calculators and computers will not be permitted in the examination room.
3. The solutions should be written on answer sheets provided by the organizing committee of WIZMIC 2009.
4. The solutions of the contestants will be assessed by the jury committee appointed by the WIZMIC 2009.
   
BOARDING AND LODGING ARRANGEMENTS FOR TEAM LEADERS, DEPUTY TEAM LEADERS AND CONTESTANTS
1. A guide will be assigned to each team. Contestants are strongly advised to follow their guides closely during the official period.
2. All team members will be accommodated in holiday camp during the official period i.e. 27th October to 30th October 2009.
3. For safety reasons contestants are advised not to leave the site without their guides.
4. Participating countries will be responsible for the accompanying persons, all boarding and lodging expenses during the official period of WIZMIC 2009.
   
ENTRY VISAS TO INDIA
  WIZMIC 2009 participants from some countries might need visas for entering India. All WIZMIC participants are reminded to check carefully all visa requirements before departing for India.
