MOTHER TERESA
Diksha Rai, V-F, CMS, Gomti Nagar

Love is the best feeling of humanity, which makes us true human beings. Love towards humanity cannot be bound in the narrow limits of caste or religion. Any person who has the feelings of affection and pity in his heart can devote his whole life in service of mankind. Mother Teresa was one of the greatest souls on the earth who served the humanity with selfless love. She is called the idol of affection, love, pity and service.
Mother Teresa was born on Aug, 26, 1910 in the small town of Skopji in Yugoslavia. The name of her father was Albanian who was a builder by profession. Her childhood name was Bohajheu. She decided to become a nun at the age of 18. For this, she joined the Loreto Centre of Nuns. From there she got the message to go to India.
Mother Teresa came to India in 1929 to work as a teacher in Loreto Atlay School, Calcutta. Due to her abilities and hard work she soon became the principal of the school. Human suffering saddened her. On December 10, 1946 when she was going to Darjeeling by train, she heard the call of her conscience. She felt that she should serve the poor by staying with them. She left the school. In 1950 she founded 'Missionaries of Charity'.
In 1948 she opened a school for children living in slums. Then she founded an inn 'Nirmal Hriday' near Kali Temple where helpless people could get shelter. She, along with her fellow sisters used to heal the patients living in streets and lanes. She was named Teresa after the 16th century's famous nun of Saint Teresa.
In the beginning, she wandered in the city in search of poor patients. First she lived in Creek Lane and later shifted to Circular Road. This building is now known as 'Mother House.'
In 1952, first Nirmal Hirday Center was founded. This institution runs 169 educational centers, 1369 welfare centers and 755 Shelter Houses.
Mother Teresa had lot of patience and kindness. She had unbounded affection for sick, old, hungry and the deprived. She served the old, helpless, sick and tortured women for 50 years. She brought light in the life of destitute and handicapped children right till her last breath. She gave her whole life to serve the suffering people. Mother Teresa suffered from heart disease and had been pulling on with the help of pacemaker since 1989. She died in September 1997.
Mother Teresa who served the suffering human beings with love is no more with us. We should follow her path in serving the destitute, helpless and sick people. This will be our tribute to her.

AN EXCITING INCIDENT
Arshi Begum, IV-A Asharabad Branch

My joy knew no bounds when I came to know about my father's friend, uncle Tahir's marriage ceremony in Kashmir. But the tickets were not available. All the trains were full. So we decided to go by plane. I was so excited to travel by plane that I could't sleep that night.
At the airport, when I saw the plane standing like a giant in front of me, I realised the boon of science and technology to mankind. As we entered, the air hostess welcomed us and took us to our seats.
After few minutes it was announced that the plane is going to take-off and we need to fasten the belts. While the plane was taking off, I felt like my heart is coming to my throat. My heart beat increased. I felt a tickling in my ribs. I was enjoying a lot. It was a superb experience. After sometime, the plane was flying in the clouds.
The world seemed to be left far behind and every thing below seemed to become of match stick size, ponds looked like purse mirrors. Trees were not more than a small pencil and people on earth were looking like insects and rivers like snakes. I was so excited that I wished this journey never ends. Then, after a few minutes there came a beautiful air hostess with a tray in her hand. There were light snacks in it and a chocolate for me.
I was so happy to get a tasty chocolate. I had forgotten everything and was looking out of the window where there were thick clouds. I was so absorbed in observing the nature closely that I didn't notice the announcement that we are going to land at Bhalla airport.
We again fastened our belts and underwent the same feelings I experienced at the time of the take-off. When our plane landed at the airport I found uncle Tahir waiting for us. I was so excited, so happy and now, so eager to make another such journey.

CARING AND SHARING BRINGS JOY
Zoha Asghar, V-A CMS, Aliganj (OB)

Once upon a time, there lived a boy named Rahul. He was a naughty boy but very good at heart. Rahul had no friends to play with. At the school, in the recess time, he sat in a corner and watched other children play. Sometimes he felt so sad that he started crying. Once in the recess time, while he was crying, someone spoke, "Rahul why do I see you always crying?" Rahul was puzzled, he looked every where but could find no one. Finally he knew that it was his shadow. Rahul said, "I always cry because I don't have any friends to play with. "Then you should be very nice and after you make friends you will have to care for them". Rahul said, "Yes, you said the right thing". "I'll start following it from tomorrow." The next day when he went to school, he saw a little girl crying. He went to the girl and asked her why she was crying. She told him that she was crying because she had a wound on her hand. Rahul took her to the first aid room. He took care of the girl in the playground and they became good friends. Now with a friend by his side, Rahul had no reason to cry.

TREASURE HUNT

Once upon a time there was a boy named Aman. He was very good in studies but had a bad habit of telling lies. Once his father gave him a story book and said, "If you read this book completely, I will give you a prize. "He did so to see whether his son really spoke lies or not. In the evening, when he came back from office, Aman said, "Father please give me my prize, I have finished reading the book." The father knew that his son had been lying all these days. He said to his son, "Had you read the book, you would have got your prize as well. I have kept a hundred rupee note inside the book." Hearing this, Aman felt very ashamed and he promised his father not to tell a lie in future again.

A VISIT TO ZOO
Pratyush Sharma, II B, CMS, Indira Nagar

Last Sunday our family decided to visit the zoo. Our group included my parents brother, sister and myself. We went by car and proceeded to the Lucknow zoo.
My father bought the tickets. The campus was very big. First we went to see the cage of tigers. They were magnificent and there were many varieties of tigers including the white tiger. Then we proceeded towards the section of leopards and elephants.
At the snake house we saw various types of snakes like cobras, pythons etc. We also saw the beautiful deer and the famous Himalayan bear.
After that we went to birds' cage and saw various types of birds. We also saw giraffe and many more animals. The most amazing thing about this zoo is that the animals here were not kept in small cages. They were left to feel free in natural surroundings.
As we were tired and hungry, we proceeded towards the restaurant at the zoo campus and had pizza and cold drink. After that we went for boating. The weather was cloudy and we enjoyed the boating very much.
Suddenly we heard the noise of a loud siren. We came to know that it was 6 O'clock and the zoo was to be closed. On hearing this, we packed our things and returned home after a very enjoyable day.
