1. Strain every nerve to acquire both inner and
outer perfections, for the fruit of the human tree has always been and will ever be
perfections both within and without. It is not desirable that a man be left without
knowledge or skills, for he is then but a barren tree. Therefore, so much as your capacity
and capability allow, you must deck the tree of your being with the fruits such as
knowledge, wisdom, spiritual perception and eloquent speech.
2. It is incumbent upon the children to exert
themelves to the utmost in acquiring the art of reading and writing. Writing skills that
will provide for urgent needs will be enough for some; and then it is better and more
fitting that they should spend their time in studying those branches of knowledge which
are of use.
3. The most vital duty in this day is to purify
your characters, to correct your manners, and improve your conduct. The beloved of God
must show forth such character and conduct among His creatures, that the fragrance of
their holiness may be shed upon the whole world.
4. Exert every effort to acquire the various
branches of knowledge and true understanding. Strain every nerve to achieve both material
and spiritual accomplishments.
5. You must be distinguished from others of
humanity. But this distinction must not depend upon wealth- that you should become more
affluent than other people. We do not desire ordinary distinction for you; not scientific
nor commercial or industrial distinction. For you we desire spiritual distinction. That
is, you must become eminent and distinguished in morals. In the love of God you must
become distinguished from all else. You must become distinguished for loving humanity; for
unity and accord; for love and justice. In brief, you must become distinguished in all the
virtues of the human world; for faithfulness and sincerity; for justice and fidelity; for
firmness and steadfastness; for philanthropic deeds and service to the human world; for
love towards every human being; for unity and accord with all people; for removing
prejudice and promoting international peace. Finally, you must become distinguished for
heavenly illumination and acquiring the bestowals of God. This must be the point of
distinction you should seek.
6. We hope that while you are studying in school
you may so excel all other students in the various branches of knowledge taught herein
that all may testify that you have another power, are inspired with another effort, are
imbued with a nobler ambition, are stimulated by higher motives and make wider and deeper
exertions than others. If you do not surpass the others, then what distinction will there
remain for you? Therefore, you must strive to be superior to them in some of your chosen
fields, so that everyone may bear testimony to this fact.
7. You must become the shining candles of moral
precepts and spiritual ideals and be the means of illumination to others. Clothe your
bodies with the robes of virtues. Characterize yourselves with the characteristics of the
people of divine morality. Shun all manner of vices as you shun a poisonous snake. Let the
corps of professors and the students be impressed with the fruit and holiness of your
lives so that they may take you as paragons of worthiness, examples of nobility of nature,
observers of the moral laws, holding in subordination the lower element by the higher
spirit, the conquerors of self and the masters of wholesome, vital forces in all the
avenues of life. Strive always to be at the head of your classes through hard study and
true merit. Be always in a prayerful state and appreciate the value of everything.
Entertain high ideals and stimulate your intellectual and constructive forces.
8. We need a new race of man, a just world, a
united world and a peaceful world.
9. Develop a new unified approach and a new vision
on life as per the changing social circumstances.
10. Science & Religion should be in harmony. We
can apply scientific methods for discovering religious truth; at the same time, spiritual
principles must become a guiding force for the use of scientific discoveries.
11. Dont be a part of the problem, but become
a channel for its change.
12. Prepare yourselves quietly to grow into a Peace
Maker; bring about a positive change in society and provide a meaningful leadership.
13. Humanity, in its collective growth, is passing
through the stage of adoloscence, preparing itself to enter the next stage of maturity. We
can see the symptoms of adoloscence in world affairs. These symptoms include the lack of
emotional stability, confusion, pre-occupation with pleasures and power etc. Although
adoloscence is a natural stage of growth through which we have to pass, we have
unfortunately had an unhealthy adoloscence.
14. The growth and well being of a society depend
upon the growth and well being of its individual members.
15. Society requires good men and women who can run
this world. Society requires good and thoughtful leaders with great capacities of mind and
heart.
16. We need to develop analytical thinking, so that
we may analyse issues and discover fundamental problems and offer relevant solutions.
17. The caste system was created for a society very
much different from that of today and is totally irrelevant to the present circumstances.
We must try to remove the caste system from our society and replace it with equality.
18. Once we realize that we are created by one God,
that we share a common spiritual destiny and that we are all engaged in carrying forward
an ever advancing civilization, the differences of caste and religion become unnecessary.
Let us create a united, casteless, prejudice-free society.
19. Youth must create conditions in society
conducive to peace and unity because they have the capacity to do so.
20. Spiritual teachings of all religions are one,
but through the ages, a lot of spirituals and useless practices entered religions and
caused them to replace spirituality with fundamentalism, terrorism and violence.
21. Resolve conflicts in such a way that everybody
wins and no one loses. When God wins everybody wins and no one lose.
22. Conflicts can be resolved once we learn the
methods of proper consultation.
23. Our destiny is determined by two factors, the
will of God and our own will. We have no control over the will of God, but we can use our
own free-will to build our destiny.
24. God is one and unique. He created us in his own
image and as such we are also endowed with the gift of uniqueness. Every one of us can
grow into a beautiful, creative, unique, marvellous human being. This uniquenes, far from
creating disharmony and conflict, must be appreciated as a source of beauty and wonder.
