The World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) was founded by the well-known Japanese thinker Masahisa Goi, after the devastation of the Second World War. Masahisa Goi believed that all persons should include the words of the peace prayer— 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' — in their daily prayers, whatever their individual religious beliefs may be.
The WPPS promotes holding of World Peace Prayer Ceremony in which peace prayers are recited for all individual countries by name. Other WPPS activities include 'Peace Pals' project and planting of 'Peace Poles', which are wooden obelisks with the peace prayer inscribed on all four sides in different languages. Over 200,000 such peace poles have been planted in more than 180 countries of the world. These peace poles have been compared to acupuncture pins on the acupressure points of the globe.
The CMS philosophy of World Unity and World Peace is similar to that of the World Peace Prayer Society. CMS educational edifice stands on the four pillars of (i) knowledge, (ii) wisdom, (iii) spiritual perception and (iv) eloquent speech. It is built on the four building blocks of (i) universal values, (ii) global understanding, (iii) excellence in all things and (iv) service to humanity. It is on these lines that the WPPS and CMS have come together in an unshakable bond.
CMS, Indira Nagar branch, has organized ten such international peace events; namely, the 3rd International Peace Poster and Quilt Competition and Exhibition in 1999 and also the Ist and 2nd International Peace Greeting Card Design Competition in 2000 and 2001 and International Peace Poster and Peace Quilt Competition and Exhibition in the years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 consecutively. Now the 10th World Peace Festival and International Peace Poster and Peace Quilt Competition will be held from 22nd to 24th October 2010 to mark the United Nations Day.
Our aim is to see that children develop an understanding with one another in the spirit of universal-love and brotherhood of mankind.
