The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

It is my proud privilege to extend an ebullient invitation to you on behalf of City Montessori School, Rajajipuram for the 8th Odyssey International 2019, to be held from 21st August, 2019 to 24th August, 2019 at the World Unity and Convention Centre (WUCC), City Montessori School, Kanpur Road, Lucknow, India.

General Guidelines

Rules and Regulations

  1. The participating schools are permitted to bring maximum six participants from the Senior Category (Classes: XI and XII / Age: 16 years - 18 years) and six participants from the Junior Category (Classes: VIII, IX and X / 13 years- 15 years) - a total of twelve participants from each team.
  2. Each team will be accompanied by a Team Leader. The accompanying Team Leader should be a Senior Section English teacher. The Principal accompanying the team will be the Guest of Honour.
  3. The participating Team Leader is requested to select a topic related to his/her area of expertise regarding the life and works of Shakespeare and send a video presentation to us after confirming the participation in the Confirmation Form. A mail will be sent after confirmation, providing the link to upload the video. The presentations would be shortlisted according to their content and the concerned Team Leaders would be invited to present the same in the Open Mic Session. Please refer to the Open Mic Section for further guidelines.
  4. Since Open Mic would be a competitive event, the total points earned by the team leader would be added to the total tally of the team.
  5. Each team will be provided with a Team Buddy during the Registration in order to facilitate effective participation.
  6. An Orientation Programme for the participating teams will be held everyday at 9:00 a.m. after the assembly in the CMS Auditorium, WUCC. It is mandatory for all the participating teams to attend the same.
  7. Meeting of the Team Leaders will be held at the end of each day after dinner at the Leaders’ Room opposite to the dining hall in the CISV building.
  8. Though recommended, it is not essential for a team to participate in all the events. However, once registered for an event, the team is obliged to participate in that event.
  9. The multimedia for any event should be in the prescribed format. The organisers will not be able to provide the facility to change the format of the required presentation.
  10. The number of teams that the organizers can accommodate is limited. Therefore the interested schools must mail us the confirmation at the earliest, failing which it may not be feasible for the organizers to entertain more entries.

Registration

  • Registration for all local teams will be done on 20th August, 2019 at 9:00 am. All National and International teams should reach Lucknow and report at the Control Desk, CMS WUCC, Kanpur Road, latest by 12.00 Noon on 20th August, 2019 for the event Bedizenment de Shakespeare (Refer to the activity in the Events Section).
  • Team leaders and participants must check for any error /change in the names of participants before registration at the Registration Counter and submit the duly verified list.
  • All event notices will be displayed outside the Control Room and the Reception area of the residential facility. Team leaders are requested to update their teams accordingly.
  • Certificate of participation will be awarded to each participant. First, Second and Third position holders will be awarded 10, 8 and 6 points respectively and the First, Second and Third Consolation Prizes will be awarded 5, 3 and 2 points respectively. These points will be added to the total tally of their respective teams.
  • The Championship Trophy will be awarded to the team that earns the maximum points and The Runners Up Trophy will be given to the next best.
  • Special trophies would be awarded in both the Junior and Senior categories on the basis of the overall performance.
  • The teams are requested to carry their school banner (4ft by 2ft), school flag (3ft by 2 ft), soft copy of the school prayer, school song (if any) and national song (for international teams) in mp3 format along with them. They should also carry a brief school presentation having the Logo, Principal’s photograph and a few slides (maximum 10) containing the school information that they would like to share. This must be given at the control desk during the registration or sent online by 1st August, 2019.
  • Kindly adhere to all the timings given in the schedule of events. The team should be strictly disciplined throughout their stay in Lucknow.
  • Medical facilities and a communication centre (for telephone, fax and e-mail facilities) are available at the venue on payment.
  • Meals will be served at the timings given below:
    Breakfast:7:00 am to 7:45 am
    Lunch :1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
    Dinner:8:00 pm
    [Except on 21st August, 2019 - Lunch : 11:45 am to 12:45 pm ]

    All the participants are requested to follow the timings.

  • The participating teams are required to confirm their participation by mail through the prescribed format enclosed as the Annexure A latest by 1st May, 2019.
  • The participating teams must send their Registration form (Annexure B) by post along with the travel details form (Annexure C) latest by 30th June, 2019.
  • The participating teams must send their entry for the event by Post - CINEMATICS in a CD/online along with the attachment given in the Registration Form latest by 30th June, 2019. No CD will be accepted at the time of registration.
  • Important note : For the events, La Mascarade and Spectacle de Danse, we will be able to accommodate the first 40 entries only.
  • In the event of an unavoidable clash between the competitions, the teams are requested to co-ordinate with the team buddies and inform at the control desk on the day of the event so that a maximum possible participation can be ensured in all the events.

Code of Conduct

Dress Code

  • Full uniform of the respective school should be worn by the participants from 08:00 am till the end of the competitions for the day except for the time when they have to change for the events that need costumes.
  • Identification badges will be presented to the participants on their arrival which must be worn by the participants at all times from 21st August till 24th August, 2019.
  • Team leaders must assemble with their teams and team buddies in the auditorium at 08:00 am sharp for the Prayer Assembly everyday. They are requested to sign at the entrance to ensure their presence. Delay or absence during the assembly will lead to disqualification of the latecomers for the subsequent events of that day.

Accommodation

  • Only students of the participating teams and their team leaders shall be accommodated. Infants or younger children will not be accommodated.
  • No extra person will be accommodated with the teams.
  • Teams will not be allowed any early arrival /extra stay at the venue.
  • The visiting teams (outstation) along with their team leaders must be present at the venue at all times from 21st August till 24th August, 2019. No one will be allowed to leave the venue without informing the Convenor.

Discipline

  • Proper discipline and decorum is to be maintained by the participants during their stay.
  • No relatives or friends will be allowed to meet any participant till the conclusion of all the events of ODYSSEY 2019.
  • The team leader will be personally responsible for the conduct of the team members.
  • The teams are requested to co-operate with their team buddies in maintaining punctuality and discipline.
  • Venturing out of the residential premises after the events for the day are over will be considered as Breach of Zone and the participant will immediately be asked to withdraw from the events.
  • Any breach of discipline may lead to the disqualification of the team and the organizers may be compelled to request the team to withdraw from the subsequent events.

Responsibility

  • Participants are advised to take adequate measures for the safety of their belongings. The organizers will not entertain any complaint in this regard.
  • Printing and typing facilities will not be provided at the venue.
  • All the team leaders are required to attend the briefing to be held in the Leaders’ Room, after the proceedings of the day are over for the dissemination of important information for the next day.

Validity of Entry

  • The participating schools must ensure that their entries are complete in all respects.
  • The entries must be duly forwarded by the Head of the institution.
  • Every member of the participating team must submit a photocopy of the ADHAAR CARD (National Teams)/ PASSPORT (International Teams) at the time of registration.
  • Kindly adhere to the deadlines stipulated in the brochure.
  • The entries which do not conform to the rules specified for each competition will stand disqualified.
    ** A team has to participate in the events(s) in which it is registered. Withdrawal and non participation from the registered event will lead to disqualification.

Judgement of the Events

The sanctity of the final events will be monitored by Specially invited Judges who will be experts in their respective fields and will not be related to City Montessori School, Lucknow.
