Army doctor from city performs complex lifesaving gynae surgery


Lucknow, 8 July: Dr Priyanka Tripathi, an alumna of CMS Mahanagar Campus and a gynaecologist in the Indian Army performed a complex surgery recently to save the life of a mother and her infant at the Military Hospital in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dahung. The patient was referred to a bigger centre in Itanagar as the mother had an elevated blood pressure and the baby was too big but the patient could not travel. Dr Priyanka Tripathi decided to operate along with her team. During surgery, further complications of a ruptured uterus led to loss of a lot of blood. Undeterred, Dr Priyanka saved both the mother and her child in a 5 hour surgery, and became an applauded local hero.
