Computer Literacy Award of Govt. of India
bagged by CMS


Kanpur Road Branch of City Montessori School has earned the distinction of bagging the 'A' category state level Computer Literacy Award from the Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India bringing laurels to the city of Lucknow. The award carries a cash prize of one lakh fifty thousand rupees. The department of Information Technology received nominations from all 27 states and Union Territories following state wise competitions between the participating schools of the respective states. From among these participating schools the topmost was nominated for the award by the respective states. The state of Uttar Pradesh nominated City Montessori School after it was adjudged the best amongst all in the state.

It may be mentioned that CMS branches are well equipped with about one thousand computers in all, imparting high quality education in computers, science, literature etc. Internet, website designing and multi-media are used as effective educational tools to teach the various subjects. The Internet gives them access to knowledge across the globe. The multi-media presentations shown to students encourage them to accept the challenges of the digital age and prepare themselves as able citizens of the 21st century. In this way, they can compete successfully with the students of developed nations.

 

2-day Maths Workshop at
CMS Kanpur Road from January 2


A two-day Mathematics Workshop is being organised at the newly constructed auditorium of City Montessori School, Kanpur Road on January 2 and 3. The world renowned mathematician, Mr. Robert Baratta Lorton, President, Centre for Innovation in Education, USA will conduct this workshop for the benefit of pre-primary and primary mathematics teachers of City Montessori School. Discussions will be held on how to make the subject of mathematics more enjoyable and useful for children.

At this two day workshop, emphasis will be laid on making mathematics more activity-oriented so that more and more students come forward and develop an interest in it. Mr Robert Baratta Lorton will train the CMS teachers about the innovative methods of teaching maths. Besides this, well-known mathematicians will share their experiences and teach new methods of learning mathematics with the teachers of CMS in order to make it more interesting for the students. An exhibition of teaching aids and innovative technology in maths will also be set up. Teachers will also display their skills by demonstrating the use of audio-visual methods in teaching mathematics.

This is the first time that world renowned mathematician, Mr Robert Baratta Lorton is conducting a Maths Workshop in any school in India. He has earlier taken up several challenging tasks in USA and proved his excellence as an innovative genius. Students have shown tremendous progress using his creative methods of learning maths.
