‘एक ही छत के नीचे हो, अब सब धर्मों की प्रार्थना’

(1) जो जोड़े वह धर्म है तथा जो तोड़े वह अधर्म है:-

अज्ञानता के कारण आज एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा की ओर से युग-युग में आये अवतारों- राम, विष्णु, बुद्ध, अब्राहीम, मुसा, महावीर, जरस्थु, ईसा, मोहम्मद, नानक, बहाउल्लाह को अलग-अलग मानने के कारण ही धर्म के नाम पर आज चारों ओर जमकर दूरियां बढ़ रही है, जबकि सभी अवतार एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा की ओर से युग-युग में आये हैं। इस प्रकार हम सब एक ही परमात्मा की संतानें हैं। लैटिन भाषा में रिलीजन के मायने जोड़ना होता है। अर्थात जो जोड़े वह धर्म है तथा जो तोड़े वह अधर्म है।

(2) सभी अवतार एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा की ओर से युग-युग में आये हैंः-

रामायण में तुलसीदास जी ने ठीक ही लिखा है कि ‘जब जब होई धर्म की हानि - बाढ़हि असुर, अधम अभिमानी। तब तब प्रभु धरि विविध शरीरा - हरहिं कृपानिधि सज्जन पीरा।।’ अर्थात जब-जब धर्म की हानि होती है और संसार में असुर, अधर्म एवं अन्यायी प्रवृत्तियों के लोगों की संख्या सज्जनों की तुलना में बढ़ जाने के कारण धरती का संतुलन बिगड़ जाता है, तब-तब परम पिता परमात्मा कृपा करके धरती पर अपने प्रतिनिधियों (अवतारों) विष्णु, बुद्ध, अब्राहीम, मुसा, महावीर, जरस्थु, ईसा, मोहम्मद, नानक, बहाउल्लाह आदि को मानवता का मार्गदर्शन कर समाज को सुव्यवस्थित करने के लिए युग-युग में विविध रूपों में भेजते रहे हैं।

(3) सभी अवतारों को दिव्य ज्ञान एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा से प्राप्त हुआ है:-

युग-युग में आये इन सभी अवतारों को दिव्य ज्ञान एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा से प्राप्त हुआ है। उदाहरण के लिए परमपिता परमात्मा ने 5000 वर्ष पूर्व विष्णु की आत्मा में गीता के माध्यम से ‘न्याय’ का दिव्य ज्ञान भेजा। पुनः 2500 वर्ष पूर्व उसी परमपिता परमात्मा ने भगवान बुद्ध की आत्मा में त्रिपटक के माध्यम से ‘सम्यक ज्ञान’ व समता का दिव्य ज्ञान भेजा। 2000 वर्ष पूर्व उसी परमपिता परमात्मा ने कठोर मानव जीवन को करूणामय जीवन बनाने के लिए प्रभु ईसा मसीह की आत्मा में बाईबिल का ज्ञान भेजा। 1400 वर्ष पूर्व उसी परमपिता परमात्मा ने हज़रत मोहम्मद की आत्मा में कुरान के माध्यम से ‘भाईचारे’ का दिव्य ज्ञान भेजा। 400 वर्ष पूर्व उसी परमपिता परमात्मा ने स्वार्थपूर्ण मानव जीवन को त्याग (सच्चा सौदा) का पाठ पढ़ाने के लिए गुरू नानक देव जी की आत्मा में गुरूग्रंथ साहिब के माध्यम से ‘त्याग’ का दिव्य ज्ञान भेजा तथा लगभग 200 वर्ष पूर्व उसी परमात्मा ने मानव जीवन में बढ़ती हुई दूरियों को समाप्त कर मानव जाति को एकता का पाठ पढ़ाने के लिए बहाउल्लाह की आत्मा में किताबे अकदस का ज्ञान भेजा।

(4) हमारी प्रार्थनाओं को सुनने वाला ईश्वर एक ही है:-

परमात्मा की आत्मा के पुत्र होने के कारण हम सब एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा की संतान हैं। उस परमपिता परमात्मा की प्रार्थना हम मंदिर में करें, मस्जिद में करें, गिरजाघर में करें या गुरूद्वारे में करें, और चाहे किसी भी भाषा में करें, हमारी प्रार्थनाओं को सुनने वाला ईश्वर एक ही है। अलग-अलग स्थानों, भाषाओं, वेश-भूषाओं में परमपिता परमात्मा को याद करने से धरती पर यह अज्ञान फैल गया है कि धर्म एक नहीं अनेक हैं। परमपिता परमात्मा की प्रार्थना करने के लिए किसी विशेष प्रकार की वेश-भूषा, भाषा, जाति-धर्म, स्थान आदि से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है।

(5) सारी सृष्टि के सभी प्राणी मात्र से बिना किसी भेदभाव के प्रेम करना ही धर्म है:-

गीता में जब भगवान श्री कृष्ण से उनके शिष्य अर्जुन ने पूछा कि भगवान! आपका धर्म क्या है? तब भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने अपने शिष्य अर्जुन को बताया कि मैं सारी सृष्टि का सृजनहार हूँ। इसलिए मैं सारी सृष्टि के सभी प्राणी मात्र से बिना किसी भेदभाव के प्रेम करता हूँ। इस प्रकार मेरा धर्म अर्थात कर्तव्य सारी सृष्टि के प्राणी मात्र से प्रेम करना है। इसके बाद अर्जुन ने भगवान श्री कृष्ण से पूछा कि भगवन् मेरा धर्म क्या है? भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने अर्जुन से कहा कि तुम मेरी आत्मा के पुत्र हो। इसलिए मेरा जो धर्म अर्थात कर्तव्य है वही तुम्हारा भी धर्म अर्थात कर्तव्य है। अतः सारी मानव जाति की भलाई करना ही तुम्हारा भी धर्म अर्थात् कर्तव्य है। भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने बताया कि इस प्रकार तेरा और मेरा दोनों का धर्म एक ही है।

(6) किसी भी महान अवतार ने कोई अलग धर्म नहीं दिया है:-

इस प्रकार परमपिता परमात्मा की ओर से युग-युग में आये किसी भी महान अवतार ने कोई अलग धर्म नहीं दिया है। जिस प्रकार से परमपिता परमात्मा शाश्वत और अपरिवर्तनीय है उसी प्रकार से उसका धर्म भी शाश्वत और अपरिवर्तनीय है। परमपिता परमात्मा का जो धर्म है वही धर्म उसकी सभी संतानों का भी धर्म है। मनुष्य का सदैव से एक ही धर्म (कर्तव्य) रहा है - प्रभु इच्छाओं को जानना तथा उन पर चलना। पवित्र पुस्तकों गीता, त्रिपटक, बाईबिल, कुरान, गुरू ग्रन्थ साहिब, किताबे अकदस आदि में एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा के द्वारा भेजी गई न्याय, समता, करूणा, भाईचारा, त्याग एवं हृदयों की एकता की शिक्षाओं को जानना तथा उसके अनुसार संसार में रहकर पवित्र भावना से प्रभु की इच्छाओं और आज्ञाओं के अनुसार कार्य करना ही हर प्राणी का धर्म है। इस प्रकार प्रभु की इच्छाओं को जानकर तथा उनके अनुसार कार्य करने के अलावा किसी भी प्राणी का और कोई भी दूसरा धर्म नहीं है।

(7) एक ही छत के नीचे हो-अब सब धर्मों की प्रार्थना’:-

आज धर्म के नाम पर बढ़ती हुई दूरियाँ सिर्फ अज्ञानता के कारण है। जबकि सभी धर्मों का उद्देश्य सम्पूर्ण मानव जाति के हृदय में प्रेम व एकता की भावना को बढ़ाकर सारी पृथ्वी पर आध्यात्मिक सभ्यता की स्थापना करना है। सभी धर्मो का स्रोत एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा है और हम सब एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा की संतान हैं। धर्म के नाम पर होने वाली दूरियों का कारण धर्म के प्रति लोगों का अज्ञान है। जब हम सभी एक ही परमात्मा की संतानें हैं तो हमारे धर्म अलग-अलग कैसे हो सकते हैं? इसलिए स्कूलों में बच्चों एवं टीचर्स के द्वारा की जाने वाली सामूहिक प्रार्थना की तरह ही समाज में भी सभी धर्मों, जातियों एवं सम्प्रदायों के लोगों को एक ही जगह पर इकट्ठे होकर सामूहिक रूप से एक ही परमपिता परमात्मा की प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए और यही प्रभु-प्रार्थना करने का सबसे सही तरीका भी है। अर्थात एक ही छत के नीचे हो-अब सब धर्मों की प्रार्थना’ हो।

I have written previously in this column about the importance of reading as not only a source of knowledge or a potentially enjoyable activity, but also a foundation for a variety of skills – including analytical and critical thinking skills; basic mental skills such as memory and concentration; linguistic and vocabulary skills; and the ability to form, articulate, and critique opinions. With this in mind, we at CMS proudly recognise the value of incorporating reading into a child’s curriculum as a cornerstone of their all-round development, and have been taking some positive strides to take children’s reading even further.

The value of having a dedicated space in which to read peacefully, surrounded by good books in the company of fellow readers within an attractive environment, should not be underestimated. This can be an important part of creating an ecosystem and culture of reading that empowers children to learn to enjoy picking up books. It is with this motive that in Rajajipuram I and Anand Nagar Campuses we have recently inaugurated state-of-the-art new libraries with a modern, welcoming feel, where we hope students will find joy in spending their time. Some photographs of these new reading spaces are included below, and plans are in the pipeline to create more such spaces in other CMS campuses too in the near future.

There has been an ongoing effort to ensure that all libraries are well-stocked with quality literature and non-fiction from which students can derive the maximum possible benefit. Apart from books, therefore, CMS libraries subscribe to relevant journals and magazines through which students can familiarise themselves with the latest research, gain valuable insights into current affairs, and take delight in poring over specialist topics of their interest. Students have the freedom to select reading material as per their personal preferences.

CMS is also experimenting with harnessing the power of technology to enhance students’ reading skills. Pilot projects are currently underway with the aim of understanding the effectiveness of programmes that combine digital apps with relevant parental and teacher interventions to assist with habituating the youngest minds to the idea of reading, as well as apps for slightly older children which can help them improve their basic reading skills through combining reading with continuous formative assessment and comprehension exercises. It is hoped that, over time, all these developments will contribute to the creation of an environment in which reading becomes the norm for all students – and a source of joy for them too.

INSPIRING COUNSELOR

Master of Arts in Psychology, Ms Deepti Mehrotra is one outstanding Counselor who has won over the children with her patient and sympathetic understanding of their problems and coming out with thoughtful solutions. Given below are a few excerpts from her interview with the CMS Bulletin team:

1. When did you join CMS?

I joined in December 2015 after working for about a year as Psychology teacher in a Senior Secondary School.

2. Please tell us in brief about your job at CMS.

Here in CMS we focus on providing support to students and their families, and help them deal with and understand their emotions and behavior better. We as counselors provide the students the opportunity to express themselves creatively, offer a warm and supportive environment, assist them to make good choices and help them become positive about themselves and their learning. We involve students in activities to build confidence, impart life skills, and allow them to experience a spiritual dimension in life that enhances their sense of wellbeing.

3. Would you like to share some particular incident/experience you have had at CMS?

There was a child in board class who was in self harming mood. I tried connecting with the parents as the child was living in a Paying Guesthouse here, but it was difficult for them to come and stay in Lucknow. So, once the child informed me about the self harming urges, I had to take the child home and for few days the child stayed with my family. Sometimes dealing with such difficult situations is possible only when we as counselors go out of our way to help a student. It is possible only because of the trust and support shown to us by our principal and I feel myself lucky to have Mrs Abha Anant as my constant motivator.

4. What do you think are the special needs of the CMS students and in what ways are they at some advantage?

The need of the hour is to understand the psychology of children and the problems they go through. Adults believe that their life revolves around study, food and enjoyment, but the practical reality is that they go through a lot of issues like identity formation, role confusions, peer pressure etc. and I believe we need to handle them sensibly and sensitively.

I believe CMS students are at an advantage as compared to others because we focus on overall development and for this reason our Child Wellbeing Department which is the brain child of our Respected President Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon and under the supervision of our Head of Child Wellbeing Department, Mrs Aruna Gupta created a survey which aims at exploring the quality of children’s lives and their sense of wellbeing, and to identify the barriers to wellbeing. As a Counselor, I work for students’, life satisfaction, physical health, healthy behaviour, positive self esteem, and resilience as these together create a sense of wellbeing.
