Dr Jagdish Gandhi met Dr. P. Duraisamy, Ph.D., D.Econ. Sc.(Paris), Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras during his visit to Chennai in the first week of January 2018. He explained to Dr P Duraisamy his concept of the Role of Education for the 21st century, and also briefed him about the International Conferences of Chief Justices of the World being organized by CMS since the year 2001. Dr Gandhi was invited as the Chief Guest by Soka Ekeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Chennai to deliver his views in a special session on Education for Sustainable Development.
Republic Day was celebrated with great joy on 26th January 2018. CMS Campuses put up colourful displays, March Pasts and musical bands at the ceremonial parade, The CMS Tableau, based on the need for embracing the provisions of Article 51 of the Constitution of India and giving a direction to the whole world by urging for a World Parliament, a World Court of Justice and a World Government was highly appreciated. It emphasized on Unity of Religion and Oneness of Mankind as all religions come from the same One God was also presented in a very attractive manner. The majesty and grandeur of the CMS Tableau at the Republic Day Parade was unmatched.
It may be mentioned that it was after the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950 that India became a federal, democratic republic within the Commonwealth, abolishing the British monarchial rule in India. After independence, the Constituent Assembly appointed the drafting committee, with Dr BR Ambedkar as its chairman, to draft the Constitution. The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949 but brought it into effect on January 26, 1950.
