The session was conducted in a very fruitful manner by Mr Carlyle McFarland, Principal, La Martiniere Boys' College, Lucknow. In his opening address he clarified the objective of conducting the session. He remarked that a terrific amount of work goes on in giving care, nutrition, looking after health, hygiene, safety and security of differently abled children. It was essential to know the problems faced by the administration, management, researchers, service providers, afflicted students themselves and to know as to what they need to make the education of such children more effective and meaningful.

This session, initiated in 2009 was conducted for the third time and is guiding the efforts of INNERSCAPE year after year and has become a prominent feature of this event.

After the presentation, parents actively participated in the discussion and narrated their tales of woes and expectations from the Government, various agencies and monitoring system. We were particularly moved by the stories of grit and determination that parents and care providers shared with us, informally. Students of NIVH, Dehradun, also participated in the discussion and shared their experiences. It was felt that inclusive education had a different meaning for different children with different types of ability.

It is not only academics that is needed but development of various skills in which these children can excel and should be taken care of. Another point that came to the fore was that one should not lose determination and will power and have a positive attitude without which nothing is possible. Many parents were very much appreciative of the efforts of CMS and praised the sentiments of the organizers for taking up such a great cause. It was also felt by the parents that one member of the decision making body of the Government should be nominated from the parents of disabled children, who can, from time to time, put forth their suggestions and actively participate in the implementation of inclusive education with Government's aid.

Our teachers and support staff leave no stone unturned in giving the required attention to ensure holistic education in an unbiased environment and we strongly work to develop a conducive atmosphere for the same.
