Our Founders and Patrons

Dr Jagish Gandhi, Founder Manager &
Dr Bharti Gandhi, Founder Director

Influenced greatly by Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave and others, a young and idealistic couple Dr Jagdish and Dr Bharti Gandhi ventured in 1959 to create a new mindset through education by laying the foundations of City Montessori School popularly known as CMS, with five children.

A dynamic couple, they are strong promoters of meaningful education through sound academic standards, unity of mankind, unity of religions, universal brotherhood and world peace.

The citizens of Lucknow have greatly endorsed Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi's mission and values and their support has made CMS the world's largest school with about 54,000 students on its roll this year. A Guinness World Record for the largest school in the world is held by CMS since 1999.
