Missing Links to Great Education and Great Futures – Spiritual and Human Education:

'Three realities of a child should be addressed, highest importance should be given to the spiritual preparation of the child spiritual.'

Present day education is not balanced as it emphasises material education over human and spiritual education. The fundamental truth is that a child has three realities. All these three realities must be addressed for education to be balanced and meaningful.

  • A Child is a Spiritual Being.
  • A Child is a Human Being.
  • A Child is a Material Being.

Current education is focused almost entirely on the material aspects of life. A child's spiritual reality is largely ignored. Human education is also largely lacking, an education which prepares a person to become a good member of a family and community. When all three realities of a child are not addressed, education becomes imbalanced.

While all three realities of a child should be addressed, highest importance should be given to the spiritual preparation of the child spiritual – on hin discovering the inner self, looking with a searching eye at creation, marveling at the wonders of the universe, and exploring the inner depths and meaning of existence and purpose of life.

Man has three natures: innate, inherited and acquired. While education cannot alter the innate or inherited nature of a person, its genetic make-up for example, education can alter and mold a child's acquired nature, a nature that is acquired after a child enters the world and enrolls in the three schools of humanity: the home where parents are the child's first source of empowerment, the school where a child receives his second source of empowerment, and society, his third source of empowerment.

All three sources of empowerment have had a positive influence on a child's life in the past. Today, with the breakup of the family system and both parents working, parents are increasingly unable to provide the guidance they once did. Society has much deteriorated and cannot be trusted to provide always a positive source of empowerment. Thus, formal schooling has to play a central role in defining human character. It needs to on new responsibilities to take mold a child's acquired nature by addressing a child's academic as well human and spiritual development.

At the heart of a Broader, Bolder education is the belief that the purpose of education cannot be different from the purpose of life.

'Formal schooling plays a central role in defining human character.'
