General Rules & Regulations for Selection Round
CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION
Participants should have been born on or after 30 th October 1997.
This event is open to the students of Indian Nationality only.
 
General Rules & Regulations for Selection Round Geofest
Round - I Time Limit- 1hr.  
  • Eligible Junior team members are allowed to participate in the first round as individual participants.
  • Each participant will solve a questionnaire consisting of multiple choice questions, based on various aspects of Geography.
  • There will be no negative marking.
  • Selected participants of Round-I will participate in Round-II.
 
Round - II Time Limit- 2hrs.  
  • This Round will include a nature-based activity, for which the participants will be taken to a chosen destination.
  • The participants will be provided with the map of the chosen destination on the spot.
  • With the help of the map, the participants would locate a few specific spots.
  • The participants would be given a questionnaire each to solve.
  • Questions will be related to flora and fauna of the world at large.
  • Selected participants will participate in Round-III
 
Round - III Time Limit- 1hr.  
  • Selected participants will be divided into five groups
  • There would be an audio visual quiz round, where in, same set of  questions will be asked from each group.
  • Questions would cover various branches of Geography i.e. Political, Economic, Cultural, Physical, Astronomical, Social, Cartography  etc.
  • No negative marking will be done.
  • Selected participants will reach the finals.
 
Final Round Time Limit- 2hrs.  
  • The 10 highest scorers of Round-III will be eligible to participate in the Final Round of National Geography Olympiad.
  • A variety of questions, including audio and visual round, based on Geography, of the world at large, will be asked.
  • The Quizmaster’s decision will be final and binding on all.
  • Top 3 winners of the Final Round will participate in Mega Final Round together with Top 3 winners of National Geography Olympiad 2011.
 
 
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY OLYMPIAD
Mega Final Round Time Limit- 1hr.  
  • The Mega Final Round is to decide the team to represent India for the World Championship.
  • Top3winnersofNationalGeographyOlympiad2011andTop3winners of National GeographyOlympiad2012 will participate in the Mega Final.
  • Participants will be given both subjective & objective questions.
  • Questions will be based on the Geography syllabus of class VIII, IX&X(CBSE, ICSE & NCERT)
  • Participants will also be provided with a world map where they will be asked to mark the capital cities and physical features (rivers, mountains, plateaus and water bodies).
  • Top 3 winners will get a chance to represent India at the National Geographic World Championship to be held at St. Petersburg, Russia 2013.
