Dear Sir/Madam,

Being teachers we know very well that competitions stimulate the interest of students in their subjects of study. It has been rightly said, “ You never know what you can do until you try”. It gives great joy in watching the students totally occupied in answering the questions of the test/competition. The larger the scale of competition the deeper is the interest of students into the subject. Taking this fact into consideration CMS system of education lays special emphasis on competitions at classroom, school, regional, state, national and international levels. For this reason, CMS organises 27 international events which provide valuable opportunities to students to discover their potential as also to know how far they are ahead or behind the students of other countries. The National Geography Olympiad and the Geofest International Olympiad organised by us every year focus on the same aim of making the students deeply interested in Geography.

Each year, the winning team of the National Geography Olympiad is rewarded with the privilege of participating in the National Geographic World Championship at Santiago, California, USA. Besides learning from each other the students get a chance to forge life long friendship with each other which will help in consolidating global unity as also in diluting misunderstanding or misgiving arising out of animosities created by thoughtless elements. Competitions held at international level are thus highly useful on many counts.

It would be worth mentioning that the Geofest International has greatly helped the students to understand geography better as it covers more or less the whole subject which a student ought to know and understand. The competitions held in the Olympiad are:

1. Geo Talk Debate.
2. Model Making.
3. Create Your Taste.
4. Voice & Vision.

I feel immense pleasure in inviting your esteemed Institution to participate in the National Geography Olympiad and Geofest International 2009. Accommodation will be provided free of cost to the participating teams and the team leaders. However, travel expenses are to be borne by the participants. Teams accompanied by their principals will be given preference and the principals shall be treated as our 'Guests of Honour'.
