RULES & REGULATIONS- EVENTS

RHETORIC CHANTEUSE
(Singing Elocution)

Music: the very word passes through the mind like a gentle breeze, brushing aside all negativity and discomfort, soothing the body, soul and mind with an incomparable feeling of peace and joy.

With words put in, this music is transformed to a song and that song warms the heart of the listener and the singer both. Whatever sound can we imagine without the influence of music in it ? The whistling of the wind through a maze of trees emits music; the running of water broken at intervals by rocks and pebbles is also a way of showing life by nature.
In absence of music even nature would be a dumb beauty and humanity a deaf spectator.

In the words of John Milton the affect of music is so powerful that those who praise God through music intensify their worship to the double. Let us too as minstrels and bards who used to weave poems and music to honour and glorify their kings and princes sing and bring glory to the works of those poets who have left us inexhaustible riches of Poems, Sonnets and Ballads.

THE COMPETITION

  1. A team of 2 students from the Junior section will represent each school.
  2. Participants must present their selected poem, sonnet and ballad in a definite tune.
  3. Time allotted will be 4 minutes.
  4. An acoustic guitar must be used by the team as background music which may be played either by a student or a teacher (this accompaniment will not fetch surplus marks).
  5. Auto rhythm pattern is not permitted.
  6. Pronunciation, articulation and expression will be marked.
  7. Selection of poem, sonnet, ballad and its presentation will fetch extra marks.
  8. Decision of the judges will be final.

VOX POPULI:
( A CRY AGAINST TERRORISM )

Tranquility, Solace and quietude are all synonyms of Peace but peace is nowhere to be found. The terror of TERRORISM and death looms over humanity and blankets with sorrow the happiness, which is gifted by God to Man. Is it for Religion or is it the pent up anger and hatred which man has been nurturing against Man. Peace can be attained if we are united with God and submissive to His will.
In the beginning man lived in perfect harmony with his surroundings without even a trace of malice or discord known to him. But with his development and progress entered evil in his heart and mind and he painted a picture of the Earth so gruesome and grotesque that would even make the Heavens and the Angels shudder at the sight.

Where are we heading for ? Well, at this pace towards our own created Doomsday but is it inevitable? Certainly not! Every heart yearns for Peace and every stable mind abhors War and terrorism. What really is required is to bring about a change in our thoughts and understand that there is only one God who has created everyone equal. Eureka wants to give a voice and words to our stifled cry for Peace by giving the children a platform to campaign against the fearsome claws of terrorism and fanaticism and accept that a pinch is as painful to one as to the next person.

  2. Half an hour for preparation will be given. Presentation should take 3 minutes.
  3. Teams are allowed to use a musical instrument of their choice, which is to be played by the students themselves (no prerecorded music/ songs will be allowed).

  9. The presentation will be judged on the basis of its relevance to the topic, concept, message coordination, wordings of the campaign and presentation.

SLEIGHT OF HAND
(Collage Making)

Cut, chiseled and carved, God formed man close to perfection, intricately designing each part of his and connecting them to vision, thought and action. The 'Hands' in coordination with the mind can do wonders that are hard to perceive and comprehend. From a grain of rice to the Eiffel tower the marvel done by human hands are awesome and mind-boggling.

Thoughts give rise to ideas, ideas to vision and vision to action. The wonders made by hands never cease to amaze, be it the Earth as a Canvas or a sheet of paper.

Creativity of the mind compels to think about innovation and novelty. Being able to make and form things which are more likely to be related to the real, also gives a feeling of power and control, the power to create innovation and control imagination.
