Family Solidarity Day (Pre-Primary)

Young children are the concrete thinkers. It’s hard for them to understanda concept that can’t be represented. Keeping this in mind and to provide a wonderful opportunity to show kindness and generosity to someone else, Pre Primary celebrated ‘Family Solidarity Day’ on 14th February 2020 under the able guidance of Sr Principal, Ms M. Batra and Principal Ms S. Banerjee where the kids from the neighbourhood graced the occasion making them ‘OUR EXTENDED FAMILY’ for the day.

Children learnt to express love in ways that transcend materialism and were happy to learn about the world they live in as well as the extended family they belong to. A special assembly was conducted for them where all sang the school prayer and rhymes. The students and teachers also enacted a small skit with a message “To be honest, always tell the truth and the importance of family in our lives.” 

Later, the kids from the neighbourhood were indulged in various interesting activities such as Science Experiments, Art andCraft, Yoga, Circle Time, Etiquettes and Manners, etc. They were also given the reinforcement in the form ofsmiley, stars on their hands and cards. The kids also relish yummy, healthy food during the break time. As the token of love, the kids were distributed slates and chalks, munching biscuits and chocolates.

Our tiny tots got an opportunity to share the feeling of equality as well as to be the guiding force for the neighbourhood kids for the day. This moment was a wonderful and a memorable experience for all involved and showed the children the endearing power of simple act of kindness and their ability to spread smiles around the entire school and proving that the whole world is butone family.



Lohri Celebration

Lohri was celebrated by the little ones of Pre Primary with a lot of exuberance on 13th January 2020 along with the Sr Principal Ms M Batra, Principal Ms S Banerjee and teachers. The teachers highlighted the importance of the festival of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter.

 

The children were taken to the open area which was beautifully decorated with streamers and green plants. Everybody sang and danced on the traditional folk songs and immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. The littleones with their Principals, teachers and friends danced around bonfire and put popcorn, jaggery, peanuts and gajak into it to thank God for a good harvest and prosperity of the world. Prasad was distributed among the kids and the Principals encouraged them to value their cultural heritage.

Various innovative activities were conducted in the classrooms like making of kite and dholak, cotton dubbing, tearing and pasting etc. The little ones went home with the understanding that the festivities of Lohri reflect the true festive spirit which is vibrant and fully exhibits zest of life.  




Metaphor Festival 2019 “Lucknows Festival of Letters, Arts & Culture”

The students of City Montessori school, Gomtinagar extension got an opportunity to visit the book discussion and reading session with IAS officer Anita Bhatnagar Jain. The title of the book is KUMBH, which is the first book ever written on kumbh for children. The conservation began with an interactive session by Dr. Amrita Dass who gave a brief introduction about Anita Bhatnagar Jain and the book. Later Anita Bhatnagar Jain read small excerpts from the book and told that her major area of writing is based on environmental issues. She enlightened the students about the culture, mythology, history and geography of our country India. After the reading session few questions were asked to the students and students were given the book KUMBH as a gift prize. The session was concluded by saying.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

A growing concern in today’s times is increasing victims of traffic accidents. In order to bring about an awareness of rules of crossing streets and roads and measures that can be taken to prevent the road traffic accident, the little children of Montessori celebrated ‘World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims’ on 16th November 2019 under the able guidance of Sr. Principal Ms M. Batra and Principal Ms S Banerjee. 

 

The teachers started by explaining that the children should cross the street at the zebra crossing and the use of traffic lights on the IWB. The Tata Class Edge had a very good animation clip showing traffic rules. The teacher then took all the children to an open area where they were given cycles to ride on a path, which had at raffic light in the centre, along with a small zebra crossing. They were told the significance of the traffic lights and what each light stood for. The children sang the song red says ‘Stop’, yellow says ‘Get ready’ and the green says ‘Go’. A child also enacted the role of a traffic policeman, through the use of his hands he indicated ‘STOP and GO’. Teachers told the children that they must be very careful while crossing roads and that they should always wear a seat belt in the car. The teacher also apprised the children about the dangerous use of mobiles while driving as well as kids playing on the road. Small road signswere given to the children and the teacher explained what each one meant. The teacher repeated few basic traffic rules like – look for pedestrians, don’t text and drive, wear seat belts and helmets, do not speed and focus on your driving, etc. to emphasize on its importance.

     

Thus, the day came to an end with the little ones getting the knowledge and the understanding that ‘We can’t wait for safer streets, we can work together for safer streets’. 





Gurudwara Trip ‘At The Gurus’ Door’

The little ones of Pre-Primary visited the Gurudwara on 3rd December 2019, under the able guidance of  Sr. Principal, Ms M. Batra and Principal, Ms S. Banerjee. It was a pleasant spiritual experience for them. They took off their shoes, covered their heads and was hed their hands. The Little tots of Nursery went to the ‘Darbar Saheb’ and were shown how to do ‘Matha Tekh’, by bowing down on their knees and touching their foreheads to the floor. In Darbar Saheb they were told that this place is called the ‘GURUDWARA’ and that they were sitting in the ‘Darbar Saheb’. 

 

They payed their respect to the holy book ‘Guru Granth Saheb’. Teachers assisted the children while performing ‘Gullak Seva’ and also apprised them that the money is used to help the poor and needy. Littleones were involved in a small prayer, ‘Mool Mantra’ recitation and  ‘Ardas’ conducted by the ‘Head Granthi’ of Gurudwara Saheb, in which all the children diligently participated with enthusiasm. 

     

Teachers also apprised the little ones about the ‘Langar’, which is a humble plea to all that we, should serve and eat together irrespective of our status. Little ones were delighted to receive the ‘Kada’. Thus, they went home with ‘GURUDWARA’ as their model that anchors the community; revives our physical, mental and spiritual bodies and caters to the needy – with eco-friendly nutritious and simple meals. 




Visit to Era Medical College and Hospital

The students ofclass 11th and 12th ( Biology stream) visited Era Medical College and Hospital to experience “how does it feel to be a doctor?”. They were accompanied by their biology teacher Mrs Rachna Gupta. As soon as they reached there, they received a friendly and warm welcome by Mrs Meeta Gosh, Head of the department of Nutrition who briefed the students about the variety of courses that the college offers and also how this institute was established. One of the most fascinating things about this college is that they have a “Department of Happiness” which is the one of a kind and only department in India. 

 

The students were then trifurcated and taken to various departments like the department of Anatomy where they were given the opportunity to perform various methodologies on the manikins and to the department of Animation where they came to known about various use of Virtual Reality in performing tasks. They were also briefed about Era's teaching methodology and also how games and applications were incorporated in teaching to make the classes more interesting. Specimens of various stages of foetusetc were also shown to the students along with the different body parts like (heart, brain, liver etc) which were preserved in formalin.  

     

Throughout the whole excursion, the students were guidedby Ma'am Meeta Gosh, Sir Vivek Pant and Sir Ashfaq. The surroundings of the hospital were clean and tidy and the faculty was very kind and humble. They took great care of the students and provided them with refreshments too. It was a really enriching and enlightening trip for the students as it introduced them to a totally new world of medical science. The students enjoyed the trip andabsorbed the ideas and information. Throughout the trip, they had a sense of joy and excitement in them. They are really very grateful to the school authorities as well as the hospital faculty for organising such an interestingand captivating trip for them. 


World Food Day

There is more than enough food in the world, so that no one need ever go hunger. Those who wish for a peaceful world are helping to end world hunger as a major priority. So, we also here at our Pre Primary section of CMS, Gomti Nagar Extension tried to impart the same to our students as well as parents by celebrating this day under the able guidance of Sr. Principal Ms M. Batra and Principal Ms S. Banerjee. We had volunteer mothers and grandmothers from each section who were ready to teach us how we could make some snacks – healthy and make delicious, with whatever was leftover in the kitchen. The mothers created a new meal using leftover food and shared their innovative and healthy recipes with each other. The various dishes they invented with the leftover in the kitchen were chapati noodles, rice cutlets with coriander chutney, fried rice, baati chokha, chapati churma, diamond kharad, etc. It was such a great way to reduce food wastage. Ms. Sunita Dwivedi, Incharge (Senior Section) and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Incharge (Junior Section) were there to motivate, appreciate and taste the dishes made by mothers. They even cross questioned the mothers about the various ingredients used. The grandmothers and mothers were appreciated for their efforts to the household diet; making it easier to maintain healthy eating; demonstrating easy and tasty food preparation from the food leftover in the kitchen; for loving healthy food and avoiding wastage. Then, the mothers proceeded to their children’s respective sections with their yummy to the tummy snacks and distributed it to all kids as well as teachers. Everyone went home with the understanding to standup with family and farmers this WORLD FOOD DAY, start a conversation, try a recipe with leftover stuff and raise awareness.



Eat Right India

3rd October started with a serene and enriching experience at CMS GN Ext.  India is a land of diverse region, diverse food but one foodlaw. So FSSAI, took the initiative of an awareness campaign called ‘Eat Right India’ and chose CMS GN Ext. to start their drive. The lighting of the lamp bythe eminent guests: Mr. Rahul  Singh, Additional commissioner FSDA, DrAnita Bhatnagar Jain, Additional chief secretary FSDA, Mrs. Ministhy S., IAS and Commissioner FSDA, Mr V. K Verma, Assistance Commissioner Food, and Mr Nagendra Singh, Executive Chef Taj along with our respected senior principal, Ms Manjit Batra and respected Principal, Mrs Sangeeta Banerjee marked the beginning of the informative session. Dr Ankita Yadav, Food Safety Officer, gave students some simple techniques to identify adulteration in milk, coffee, spices, tea and honey. Mr Nagendra pointed out the importance of starting the day right with nutritious food. Dr Anita addressed the students on the importance of healthy eating, healthy thinking and adopting healthy habits. Only a healthy individual can go a long way and achieve their dreams. A motivating video titled ‘thoda kum’ gave out the mantra of slowly reducing the consumption of sugar, salt and oil everyday.  Their messageof ‘Eat - safe, right, sustainably’ left a lasting impression on the audience.



Gandhi Solar Yatra

2 October 2019 celebrates the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to grace this occasion and to teach students the real power of natural resources Environment coordinator of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II. has taken initiative to join hands with IIT Mumbai in a workshop named as Gandhi Solar Yatra. 

412 Students of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II and Cambridge Gomti Nagar Ext, 175 of Kanpur road Campus, 111 of Aliganj Campus, 9 from Rajajipuram Campus I and 7 from Rajendrenagar Campus III were the part of this event. Today at morning 8:30,  714 students gathered in the auditorium of the CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II. The workshop started with golden words of Mahatma Gandhi and his work to create an India which is a dream of every citizen. Students were then enlightened with Solar Energy its uses and sustainability by Mr. Amir Raza who is a sustainable consultant at head office  CMS.

Students and teachers then moved to respective classes allotted to them for assembling Solar Study lamp.

All teachers before this event had done one monthonline course in IIT Mumbai and they were well devised as a mentor for students in assembling the solar study lamp. They learn about LED strips, PCB, sockets, batteries and soldering during workshop. It was a very good learning experiencefor both.

Students were enlightened about the use of solar energy and its implicationion will be more engraved when they will use solar study lamp in their day to day life.




Janmashtami Celebration

Though this time the festival of Janmashtami is falling on the 23rd August, we here at CMS Pre-Primary wing celebrated it on 22nd August, with great enthusiasm under the able guidance of Sr. Principal Ms. M. Batra and Principal Ms. S. Banerjee.

Tiny tots were in their festive dresses, dressed up either like Radha or Krishna looking adorable. In class, teachers told the little ones about the importance of Janmashtami and a few tales about the naughtiness, Kanhaused to do as a child and also told them how butter comes out by churning milk. The little ones also took part in the various innovative activities like flute making, and cotton pasting on the pot with butter coming out, decoration of handi, etc. to pay tribute to the Natkhat Kanha who always loved to eat butter with his group of friends.

Students enjoyed a lot and it was one of the most memorable days for them as it taught them to be friendly and also the value of sharing.



Special Assembly (23rd July, 2019)

A special assembly was held in Gomti Nagar extension where we had the eminent personalities Ms Archana Garodia Gupta and Ms Jyotsna Kaur Habibulla we’re invited to enlighten the children with the knowledge of books, languages, travel and history.

Ms Archana was raised in New Delhi and holds an MBA From IIM Ahmedabad. Ms Archana was raised in New Delhi and holds an MBA From IIM Ahmedabad is a leading national quizzer who has won the 'Champions of Champions' title from BBC Mastermind India. She regularly writes articles on history and business for magazines. She was a member of the expert panel on “Kaun Banega Crorepati.” She was the national President of the FICCI LADIES Organisation (FLO) in 2015-2016 where she set up many programs for the empowerment of Indian Women.

A multimedia presentation was shown by ma’am showcasing various biodiversity of animals around the world. An informative discussion was taken up on the history of animals especially dogs.

Interesting stories from various parts of the world related to animals such as water buffaloes, Indians dogs, Australian dog were narrated by ma'am.

Ms Archana also narrated an interesting story about King Akbar related to his passion for animals like cheetas where he owned 9000 cheetas who could run at 150km/hour.

She also told about Rajput King Prithvi Raj Chauhan And how the ancient rulers were fond of dressing up their pets in a magnificent manner. She also told about the story of Muslin cloth.

In the end, she motivated the students to read as it would help them gain knowledge and improve their vocabulary skills.


Special Assembly (22rd July, 2019)

"Good memory, good results is a universal truth."

Memory improvement program opens new vistas of memory in the student's brains and they are able to memorize their syllabus easily.

Memory infinite is an 11 year old organisation headed by Dr Tushar Chetwani the best Memory Trainer Awardee of India. Today Mr Chetwani conducted an introductory session for the students of junior and senior section of Gomti Nagar Extension. It was an interesting and engaging session wanting students to learn more about the memory enhancement techniques.


National Watermelon Day Celebration (Pre-Primary)

A chance to relish the sweet, juicy, scrumptious, most refreshing summer fruit and to promote healthy eating habits in children 'National Watermelon Day' celebration was enthusiastically taken up by Montessori on 3rd August 2019.

Perfectly in synchronization with the juicy watermelon inside, the red dressed kids were welcomed and the day began with different educational and fun activities. To make them understand that Watermelon is a multi-seed fruit, kids were involved in placing black bindies on Watermelon picture and hand printing activity. Children also learnt about various nutrients of Watermelon and its importance, that the soft inner red fruit with hard green rind around is full of vitamins, minerals and 90 percent water, which makes this melon an impressive addition to the fruit family. Little ones enjoyed themselves as they were served juicy slices of watermelon. When they ate they understood that it is extremely sweet and inside of watermelon is red in colour.

A special assembly was conducted by Montessori Bwhere the children were dressed up in red and green dresses, wearing cutouts of different fruits along with watermelon. They also played the game “Fruits, fruits we are fruits, we are healthy fruits” enjoying recognizing colours and names of different fruits; sang different songs, rhymes enjoying the tunes and promising to imbibe healthy eating habits in their daily routine.

It was a fun filled day, the little ones found the watermelon refreshing and to be relished in any way - slice them up and eat it, get it cooked on grill, or blend it into one’s favourite ice cream…….



Visit to the Temple (Pre-Primary)

A temple is a sacred place for all and blessings of God are always required hence, Pre Primary wing of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II organized a visit to the “TEMPLE” on 17th July, 2019 under the able guidance of Sr. Principal ma’am Ms M. Batra and Principal ma’am Ms S. Banerjee. It was a pleasant spiritual experience for them. Little ones took off their shoes and were taken inside the temple where the Panditji did pooja, put tilak on their foreheads and gave ‘prasaad’. Children went near the “Charan Paduka” of the temple and lit diyas and candles with the assistance of the teachers. Little ones were involved in a small prayer and pledge by the Panditji for the well being of the world and they went home understanding City Montessori School’s ideology of respect for every religion.


Open Morning Orientation / Parents Teachers Meeting

Parents with enrolled Pre Primary tiny tots were invited toattend Open Morning Orientation / Parents Teachers Meeting 6th July, 2019. The day started with the Morning Prayer by the Pre Primary teachers. Senior Principal, Ms. M. Batra reiterated the school’s vision towards excellence in the following areas – Academic, administration and character. She further added that every coming Pre Primary child is ‘The Light of the World’, and this is what makes Pre Primary such a ‘WONDERFUL’ place to be for the students and teachers. She laid down the guidelines to a better parenting and creating a congenial environment for upbringing at home. This was followed by the introduction of the teachers. A Power Point presentation was shown by the Pre Primary Incharge, Ms. Rikita Singh, further emphasizing on curriculum, activities, introduction of ‘MY DAILY PERFECTION BOOK’ – A very innovative and interesting way to keep the parents updated of their childrens’ daily performanceand students expectations to better prepare parents for their childs’ transition to Pre Primary.A brief introduction of the two applicationvizWOW Lite and Fitzroy Reader was given to the parents which focuses on the reading skills of the children and help them start reading from very early age.Ms. Alfia Khan from the Sirena Technology gave a presentation, explaining the parents about the importance of Robotics for the tech savvy generation.

After the orientation, PTM was organized in the respective classes where the teachers apprised the parents about the school rules and discussed their child’s progress report in detail.

In short, parents received a packet of information that hopefully answered all the questions they had. Pre Primary orientationwas thus perceived by children as an exciting first step into the new class environment, for parents it representeda new beginning of another special school class and the forming of many new and meaningful parent, teacher and school partnerships.
