As
I stand in front of rows of boys and girls with fresh expectant
faces in neat and clean uniform and pray that God should
help them as they appear in the test of life, I am assailed
by several questions. Have we done our best for them? How
has our team worked? Have we made our students honest enough
to face the world where there is a considerable loss of
moral values? Where people all round them are telling lies
and being dishonest. Have we made them strong enough to
change the society in which cheating and planning another's
downfall are all an acceptable form of behaviour? Have we
been able to inculcate in them values that will protect
them from the termites of corruption that is eating into
our vital structure? The answer is, we are leaving no stones
unturned in giving them good values.
Our
education rests on the four pillars of education-knowledge,
wisdom, eloquent speech and spiritual perception.
These pillars are based upon the four building blocks of
education-universal values, global understanding, excellence
in all things and service to the world.
At CMS, we impart education
of three kinds- material, human and divine. Our constant
endeavour is to make each child a gift of God to mankind
and a pride of the human race. This
kind of meaningful education makes CMS a unique and different
institution. Our emphasis on peace education has enabled
us to win the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education. The herculean
task to prepare our children to face the world can only
be performed if parents, teachers and management work together.
Thus I appeal to the parents and teachers that we must all
walk hand in hand. Just like newly planted sapling needs
a stick to help it grow straight and save it from scavengers,
our children need us and our values to grow tall and straight.
Come, let us not
falter and let them down. Be strong always, stand up for
the right and the truth.
