CMS Chowk Branch

The most delightful and satisfying moment during the year was when the Council Examination results came in and we found that our students had achieved 'cent per cent success'. This exemplifies the dedication and hard work of our staff who are ever striving to be worthy of the dictum 'trust us and we will not fail you'. We at CMS, Chowk remain pledged to achieve the same high standards of academic success in the years to come.

Our academic success set the right preamble for the rest of the year. The school remained the hub of academic and co-curricular activities for the entire year. Apart from numerous prizes and encomiums in different fields, the icing on the cake was a haul of prizes at EXSPO, the International Athletics Meet and the selection of three students in the Regional Mathematics Olympiad.

It will remain a proud moment for me to see the hard work personified in Mr. Sameer Singhal, who translated this dream into success, Mr. A.S. Bedi for coming up with yet another product of his research robot for bomb detection and disposal and Mr. S. Bisaria who seems to have acquired a Midas touch in preparing the students for debates and other literary activities.

Quanta 2002, the international festival of astronomy and robotics, organized annually by CMS Chowk once again beat its own record for flawless management and overwhelming participation.

Six hundred participants from thirteen countries made the festival a memorable learning experience in the fields of Science, Astronomy and Mathematics. The initiative that the branch took when it set up an astronomy unit in 2001 was seen to bear fruit in the form of heightened interest and increased participation. The branch has procured the American 'Celestron 8 inches telescope with all its modern peripherals to view the sky even during the daytime. Our endeavour to popularise these sciences amongst the students are showing laudable results.

All this would not have been possible without the co-operation and hard work of my staff.

As the curtains come down on yet another fruitful academic year, I look back in retrospect, and find that the achievements of the year gone by fill me with a deep sense of nostalgia and satisfaction. While I may, perhaps be forgiven for a brief trip down memory lane as I recollect the touchstones of the academic and co-curricular activities during the last academic year, the entire school remains committed to meeting the fresh challenges that are bound to confront us during the year ahead. After all, as Tennyson said, 'All experience is but an arch where-through Gleams that untravelled world …..' , bringing forth fresh problems and challenges that we will have to confront and meet with the same standards of honesty, steadfastness and dedication that we try to instill in our students.
