coexistence & conflict
resolution
Living up to the School motto of Jai Jagat, CMS education rotates around the twin poles of Godliness and Globalism. The school actively strives to inculcate moral values in children and to shape them into persons with a strong character and outgoing personality. While daily prayer assemblies ensure that children are spiritually nourished and global awareness is built in them every day, Globalism is also inculcated through activities such as CISV camps and ISSE exchange visits. Every year, the School also organizes a number
of
international events like MACFAIR, COFAS, QUANTA, ICSQCC, GEOFEST, EXSPO, World Peace Festival, Robotics & Astronomy Olympiads. The objective of holding these events is to provide an opportunity to children from different cultures and nationalities to come together and experience cross-cultural interaction. Thus the experience helps children discover that people all over the world have same hopes and fears and similar needs and aspirations. The realisation of these commonalities and similarities helps them understand the
essential sameness of human beings, no matter what their colour, creed or culture. Every year, CMS hosts over 300 foreign guests and sends out nearly 100 students and teachers to participate in different competitions and events.
CMS is a member of the U.K based Children’s International Summer Village
(CISV) Society which organises four-week long CISV camps where children from participating countries live together and learn valuable lessons in
coexistence and experience cross-cultural interaction. Since 1993, every year, CMS hosts a CISV camp in
Lucknow. In a typical CISV camp, delegations from about a dozen countries, each consisting of two boys and two girls and an adult leader, live together for four weeks to experience cross cultural interaction and receive practical lessons in co-existence. Every year, CMS also sends several student-delegations to participate in CISV and other such camps all over the world. CMS is also a member of the the International School-to-School Experience or
ISSE, a sister-organsiation of CISV, which facilitates exchange visits between Schools from different cultures. A typical ISSE exchange is between two schools whose delegations comprising of 10 students and two teachers each, spend three weeks in each other's school as guests. During the ISSE exchange, children get a chance to learn about each other's culture and learning-teaching methods practiced in each other's schools. CMS has ISSE exchanges with schools in Mexico, Australia, Malaysia, Japan & Iceland.
