INVITATION

Hon’ble Sir / Madam,

On behalf of over 32,000 students of City Montessori School (CMS)— representing world’s two billion children and generations yet-to-be-born — we take great pleasure in inviting you to address the 8th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World— The World Judiciary Summit 2007. The working sessions of the Conference will be held from Saturday, 8th December to Monday, 10th December 2007. A tentative programme for the entire Conference-period is given overleaf. Details of the earlier seven Conferences including photographs, messages and speeches are available on our school’s website: www.cmseducation.org/article51.

CMS is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest city-school with over 32,000 students on roll. CMS is also the world’s first school to receive the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education of the year-2002. CMS upholds that ‘School must act as a Lighthouse of Society’ and provide meaningful education, spiritual direction, guidance and leadership not only to students but also to the parents and the society at large, and must concern itself with the affairs of the age. Hence this initiative on children’s behalf.

Victor Hugo said: “There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world and that is an idea whose time has come.” Jan Tinbergen, Nobel laureate said: “Mankind’s problems can no longer be solved by national governments. What is needed is a World Government. This can best be achieved by strengthening the United Nations system.” We support Jan Tinbergen’s views but at the same time we believe that to address various issues that plague humankind, it is necessary to empower the International Court of Justice. We believe, that this is the idea whose time has come. In the previous seven Conferences convened by CMS, Hon’ble Chief Justices, Judges and other legal luminaries from a large number of countries have unanimously endorsed the call of CMS students for enforceable International Law. They also called for empowering the International Court of Justice and to strengthen the United Nations System in the interest of safeguarding the future of world's two billion children and the generations yet-to-be-born.

Today, international terrorism and lawlessness, the ever present danger of a Third World War and global environmental degradation seriously endanger everyone everywhere without exception. It is verily true that we can regulate international conduct, create an atmosphere of global unity and peace and secure a safe future for the children of the world by enforceable international law and by empowering the International Court of Justice. In this regard, Article 51* of the Constitution of India acts as a beacon which provides for, inter alia, “respect for international law” [please refer to Article 51 on the right hand side above].

The most powerful common denominator for all nations is their children; and it is imperative that their future be safeguarded. No nation can ignore it. A highlight of the ensuing conference will be presentation of a petition to the World Judiciary by CMS students to safeguard the future of world’s two billion children and generations yet-to-be-born. We, therefore, earnestly look forward to your support for the Conference which may also be aptly called World Judiciary Summit to deliberate on the need for enforceable international law and for empowering the International Court of Justice. A note calling for a full Bench of World Judiciary for hearing a Petition submitted by 32,000 CMS students, on behalf of two billions children of the world, is also given hereinafter.

Your participation is vital to the success of the Conference and shall greatly help build global public support for ensuring a safer world for children and coming generations. We therefore eagerly look forward to receiving confirmation of your acceptance of our invitation at the earliest.

With highest regards (on behalf of world’s two billion children)
(Jagdish Gandhi)
