I am looking at the question of peace from a different perspective. In fact I had occasion to attend on 1st January 2000 a address given by Dalai Lama from Sarnath, Varanasi. He called for the spiritual revolution from that forum and he said that 20th century has been of science and technology that brought many comforts, luxuries, facilities to the mankind and gave little time to look within. Before that in 19th century, it was a century of faith and to a great extent of blind faith and that is why when Vivekanand addressed Chicago Assembly of World Religions he called for science to come to the help of religion. During the 20th century the scene changed and it is science which requires the help of spirituality and religion. In 21st century we all have started looking for what has gone wrong, why peace is evading the entire world despite all the additions in comforts, in wealth and in technology and what not. I also see a strange co-incidence with the science and development.

21st century is a period of a nano sciences a latest in physics, chemistry, biology and all branches. I think this science has brought all the science branches together. Earlier on it was macro sciences that dealt with bodies, then came the micro sciences in 20th century and 21st century is the time of the nano sciences it. I see a very strange connection between the two when we talk of the macro level we are at a grosser level, body level. When we talk about the micro level perhaps we are with the mind level and when we talk about nano sciences we are talking of the spirituality. In this century now the entire world is realising this. There was a Conference of the world spiritual leaders in August 2000 in United Nations and there was a common concern that peace should prevail all over the earth and with that background I think it is the time now to give a new definition to the spirituality which takes care of all human needs, it takes care of our external needs, it takes care of our internal needs and unless both needs are met, both expansion take place, it can be very difficult to reconcile the two. It is time that we all together understand the depth of the human life, personality and body and once we do that it is very easy to talk of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam i.e. The World is But One Family. How is it a one family? How are we connected to each other? How are we interdependent on each other? Unless this realization is there the dream of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam will never be realized. My own study is, my own intution is that when we expand our inner boundaries, we look beyond us, and this expansion has no limit. We are spiritual in true sense and once we are spiritual, the peace is a very natural out come. This is what I think the message Mr Jagdish Gandhiji has been giving through various forms. We also in our small way are trying to do the same.
