We, the over 30,000 students of the City Montessori School, Lucknow, appeal to you, on our own behalf and on behalf of two billion children of the world, to give a patient, serious and sympathetic consideration to our appeal and support our demands so that world authorities may redress our grievances and ameliorate condition of world's two billion children.
Our first and foremost apprehension is about our very survival in view of a large stockpile of nuclear bombs possessed by seven countries. Recently one more country has declared that it also possesses nuclear bombs. These nuclear warheads are capable of destroying the entire humanity and flora and fauna several times over. If even 0.1% of these warheads (say 36) are triggered, deliberately or accidentally, it will destroy humanity, destroy vegetation and wildlife and change landscape of the world. Besides, many countries are said to possess biological and chemical weapons. How can we grow, learn and develop under the burden of such apprehension? Therefore, we appeal that these dangerous warheads and weapons be ordered to be destroyed as soon as possible.
Lordship, we have learned that during the last century, two world wars were fought and civil and ethnic wars took place in a number of countries. In these wars hundreds of millions of people including children and women have died, with the result that millions of children became orphans and homeless. The present world scenario is not good and if another war takes place it would be far more terrible and destructive and may obliterate the entire civilization. We appeal that a world forum be created which may regulate conduct of nations through its laws and take away their right to wage war.
We are also afraid of terrorists, who strike at will disregarding all considerations of humanity and showing no leniency to even women and children. Terrorists also indulge in heinous crimes and they are a great menace, creating an atmosphere of disorder and lawlessness. National governments are generally not successful in combating trans-national terrorism. We appeal that suitable agency be created to deal with terrorists.
Ecological imbalance created by deforestation, greenhouse gases and air and water pollution may seriously bring climatic changes and in the long run, may affect our lives and of future generations adversely. Melting of snow at the poles and at mountains due to global warming will devour a large chunk of land creating unprecedented difficulties and problems. Floods and other climatic upheavals will destroy life and property. The welfare of future generations is being endangered for the sake of the comforts and economic prosperity of the present generation.
Progress and development that are not sustainable and threaten ecology and environment cannot really be called progress and development. On account of the threat of ecological disaster our future and that of the future generations appears to be bleak. Immediate measures are, therefore, required to prevent future damage by suitable global laws.
While on one hand, billions of dollars are being spent per year on defense, defence preparedness and on research and development of new and more sophisticated and deadly weapons, etc., on the other, we children are deprived of our even most basic necessities, like good food and nourishment, medical facilities, proper housing, clothes and education. A small percentage of the money spent on the pretext of defence will be enough to solve problems of the two billion children of the world.
Lordship, our parents and all elders say that they love us and that they make sacrifices for our sake. But the appalling condition of children around the world does not corroborate it. According to the figures of UNO and its agencies, 40,000 children under the age of five die each day from malnutrition, 113 million children never even begin school, there are about 60 million children whose only home is street, in the last decade two million children have died in war, between 4 and 5 million are handicapped, 12 million have become homeless and one million have lost their parents or are separated from them. Besides, over 100 million children throughout the world are forced to work under hazardous and often fatal conditions. The problems of children are very many. Unless their condition is improved how can one say that we are a civilized society.
Lordship, every year, we the over 30,000 students of CMS meet a large number of children — our brothers and sisters, who come from different parts of the globe, when they come to participate in the various international events organised by our school, also many of our teams go to various countries to participate in their events. Thus, we develop mutual love, understanding, cooperation, co-existence and learn practical lessons of oneness of humanity, oneness of God and religion and come out with firm conviction about need for world unity and world peace. If war is forced by our elders, can we think of killing or even harming such children with whom we developed brotherly relations?
Now therefore, we, the over 30,000 the students of City Montessori School, Lucknow on behalf of world’s two billion children, are approaching World Judiciary, who are our only hope because the judges, with their dedication to justice, impartiality and regard to universal values and law are highly esteemed and trusted by all sections of society.
Since the minds of the judges are conditioned towards justice and also because they are capable of facilitating the establishment of a new world order, as their views and pronouncements would act as a mandate from the people to advise world leaders on the vital issue of saving humanity and ensuring a safe future to world’s children and also those yet unborn, only the Judiciary is capable of paving ways to bringing about ‘enforceable International Law’ binding on all countries and peoples of the world and constituting World Parliament to enact such laws.
The voice of the united World Judiciary cannot be ignored by other sections of the world, howsoever powerful. Children expect that the judges of the world shall unite for the sake of humanity’s survival and for safe future of generations to come. Hence the only hope for world's children is the World Judiciary !
