Dear Mr. Gandhi
Re : First International Conference on Article 51 of
the Constitution of India.
I wish to congratulate you and those involved in organising
the First International Conference on Article 51 of the
Constitution of India.
The Conference, which was an outstanding success, was
organised with the sole aim of arousing world opinion
about the urgent need to establish a world parliament
for world peace.
As realists and pragmatic people we know that this is
a mammoth task. However, we have the deep conviction that
what appears to be elusive and impossible now will one
day be materialised. It will materialise because we will
not sit back and relax.
I think we have set in motion this world awareness for
world peace, which can only be achieved when we have a
set of laws, which we can aptly call International Law.
Those sets of International Laws can only be passed by
a world parliament - a world body representing all countries
of the world.
You have laid the foundation stone. We will have to build
upon it. We cannot fail the children of the world. We
owe it to them to live in a safe world better than what
was bequethed to us.
I promised you on my departure from Lucknow that we will
work ceaselessly towards that end. In my modest capacity
I will try to do all that I can to support the noble mission,
which you have embarked upon.
