Mr.
Gandhi,
Your conference which addresses the essential rights of
children and to provide them with the best possible future
is an indication about how much can be accomplished to improve
on and to provide for the lives of the coming generations.
Public policy has always sought better living and working
conditions for the populace at large, but unfortunately
often ignoring the foundation society which is based on
the well being and the advancement of our children.
Recognizing the fact that society at large cannot move
forward without providing for the sound development our
children is not an overstatement. As a matter of fact it
is that duty of lawmakers to create an environment where
our children can thrive and have access to a decent education,
health care and their natural right of realizing their dreams.
As a matter of fact, I believe that is its time for a new
beginning in the twenty first century, to recognize that
our children are an asset and not a liability. They are
a beacon of light which should lead to a world with broader
horizon.
And now, I must emphasize the realities that hae surrounded
the loves of the children of Lebanon, children who were
forced to live in war and upheaval with bleak prospects
that inhibited their growth and deelopment. These difficult
conditions earned them the respect of their elders and inspired
them to stand steadfast as he illar of the nation.
The victory over occupation and the libration of significant
parts of our land was testimony to their strength.
towards our objectives and that Lebanon looks forward to
the recommendation of your conference, which shall set a
path for a better world and prosperous future.
