I
am glad that the Third International Conference of chief
justices of the world on article 51 of the constitution
of India on the: “Enforceable International Law is
the Need of the Hour”, is being held from December
6 to 8, 2002 at Lucknow. I am all for inclusion of “Right
to Safe Future” in the UN’s declaration of rights
for the child. What the governments and the peoples all
over the world are endeavoring for a safe, secure and healthy
habitat in the form of a regime of environmental protection
and ecological balance is to bequeath to the posterity a
healthy and secured future. That is what globalization of
worldwide economy is meant for. India is marching ahead
by adjusting its laws and multi-pronged actions to provide
our children their inalienable rights to a safe future.,
which must be incorporated and enshrined in the UN declaration
of rights of the child as an additional guiding principles
for member nations to translate it into a meaningful action.
India already has a sound legal system to provide for a
sage future for our children and measures are afoot as a
continuous process to adjust our system further in this
regard.
I send my best wishes for the success of the 3rd international
conference of Chief Justices of the world.
