Your Honour,
On behalf of over 55,000 students of City Montessori School (CMS) — representing the world's over 2.5 billion children and generations yet-to-be born — we take great pleasure in inviting you to participate in the 19th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World (The Global Peace Congress - 2018) on Article 51 of the Constitution of India to be held from Wednesday, 14th November to Tuesday, 20th November 2018 at Lucknow, India.
There will also be an optional sight-seeing tour of Agra to visit the world's seventh wonder The Taj Mahal on 14th November and Delhi on 15th November, 2018. The theme of the Conference is ‘Uniting the World for Children through Enforceable World Law and Effective Global Governance’. Tentative programme of the Conference is given overleaf.
So far 1098 Hon'ble Chief Justices, Judges and Heads of States from 126 countries have participated in the past eighteen Conferences. Detailed reports of the earlier eighteen conferences are available on our school's website: www.cmseducation.org/article51.
The most powerful common denominator for all the nations is their children. It is imperative that their future be safeguarded. It is our duty to bequeath to our children a better inheritance than that bequeathed to us.
Nobel Laureate Jan Tinbergen had said: “Mankind's problems can no longer be solved by national governments. What is needed is a World Government. This can best be achieved by strengthening the United Nations System." We value this view and other similar views and consider it expedient that, to address various issues that face humankind, there is an urgent need for changes in global governance, for enforceable world law and for empowering the International Court of Justice as World Court with wider jurisdiction.
Today, international terrorism, lawlessness, global environmental degradation and danger of world war seriously threaten everyone without exception. It is therefore imperative to regulate international conduct, create an atmosphere of global unity and peace and to ensure a safe future for humanity, especially for over 2.5 billion children of the world and the generations-yet-to be born. In this regard, Article 51* of the Constitution of India acts as a beacon, as it provides for promoting international peace and security and for “respect for international law”.
CMS (a senior secondary school) is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest school by pupils in a single city with, presently, over 55,000 students and is the only school to have been awarded for the year 2002 - UNESCO, Prize for Peace Education. CMS is an NGO associated with the United Nations (UNDPI). CMS upholds that 'A Modern School must act as a Lighthouse of Society' and must concern itself with the affairs of the age. Hence this initiative on children's behalf.
A highlight of the Conference will be the presentation of a petition to the World Judiciary by CMS students on behalf of world's children, to safeguard their future and for protection of their rights. We earnestly look forward to your active participation in the Conference, to deliberate on the need for an improved world order. The collective voice of the World Judiciary is bound to be taken with seriousness, as such, your participation is vital for the success of the Conference and for the cause for which it is being organized. We shall eagerly look forward to your acceptance of our invitation at the earliest so that we can send the logistics of the conference.
With highest regards,
Convener of the Conference &
Founder-Manager, City Montessori School
"If we are to teach real peace in the world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with children" — Mahatma Gandhi
A modern school has a social responsibility to educate its students to be concerned with the needs of the age and to empower them to contribute towards building a better society. The present world scenario presents a grim picture, as there are many problems which endanger the very existence of human beings and all life on earth. The future of the world's children and of generations yet unborn has become progressively more unprotected and insecure during the past seven decades since the advent of nuclear weapons. There is fear of another war which may be more devastating especially because of the large stockpile of weapons of mass destruction with many countries of the world and/or chances of nuclear technology falling into the hands of terrorists or non-state entities.
